The guy has a TON of stuff on his IMDB page, but I know him best as Mister Pitt on Seinfeld. Pretty impressive career!

Damn He was the go-to guy for lots of major roles requiring a well-spoken british man when the higher profile actors weren't available. I fondly remember his stints as Alfred Pennyworth & Palpatine.

Random musing:

Ian Abercrombie's last major credit was as the Headmaster in Wizards of Waverly Place, which just wrapped up a few weeks ago. This is the second time in recent memory that Disney's wrapped up one of their shows, only for one of the big stars to pass away a few weeks later. The first case was with The Emperor's New School, where the show wrapped up and Eartha Kitt passed on weeks later. It's a very odd coincidence.

As JST alluded to, he also currently leaves Star Wars: The Clone Wars without a Palpatine. He was awesome in that role.

RIP

I think I miss either LOST or Breaking Bad the most. They were the ones who really took over the zeitgeist and kept you guessing and were fun to talk about. 24 doesn't hold up as well and was very much of the time.
