Don't worry. As a Leafs fan, I wouldn't root for the Sens if they were playing for the Cup against Osama Bin Laden and the Al Queda Silver Seven.
Likewise...I've been a Toronto fan for my entire life, and I dislike them Sens. Ontario...is LEAF territory

    Just kidding.

Against my better judgement, I'm guessing Anaheim in six.

I'm a Leaf fan as well but I've never understood the animosity towards Ottawa (the other way around, I can understand). The only thing that ever really bothered me about the Senators was when Alfredsson had that awful Krusty the Clown hair, and that's gone now.

Sens in 5 (but I hope the series goes 7).

I'm not saying Emery sucks, but as tonight showed, he's going to have to elevate his game to Jiggy's level if Ottawa is to win the Cup. Both Ottawa goals were on the power-play and Jiggy shut the door on Ottawa 6-on-4 in the closing seconds. Do you think Emery can do that right now? I sure don't. I watched Jiggy carry this Ducks team on his back to Game 7 against Brodeur four years ago... when the guy is on, NO ONE can beat him, and the scary thing is he's really yet to turn it on.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

I haven't watched hockey since the Caps were really good (late 90s). Therefore, with all my hockey knowledge, Ducks in 6.

Well, the way these games are going, the 6-game series that a lot of people are fond of predicting isn't going to happen. Home ice may carry Ottawa to 1, but I really think we're going to see a Cup presentation next Wednesday night after game 5.

Yeah, I agree, kwik. I mean, Emery did just what he needed to do and played out of his mind tonight, but he can't carry the Senators by himself. (Heck, even at this point in 2003, Jiggy needed some help.)

Ottawa had that early flurry against Jiggy and then Anaheim's defense just decided to up and close the door on them. Even though the Ducks didn't break Emery until there were six minutes left in the game, this win was never really in doubt - Ottawa is being totally dominated in every facet of the game and Anaheim's stupidity is all that's giving them even a smidgen of hope. (It's no coincidence that most of their shots on Jiggy came when Ottawa was on the power play.) And the fact that Anaheim's checking line is making the difference in their offense just adds insult to injury.

Damn, I wish my Sabres were here. They'd be giving Anaheim such a better series at this point.

I don't know. Ottawa has played pretty crappy and have lost 2 games each by a goal.

Don't discount the home-ice deal. They will be able to get their #1 line out on the ice without Pronger and Pahlsson and/or Niedermeyer being there. That will make a difference.

Don't get me wrong, it sure feels like the Ducks are going to win this thing, but I am not ready to annoint them just yet. Let's see what Game 3 brings.

I'm a huge hockey fan and all, but that's just one strange comment. I mean...a Caps fan? Someone who doesn't pay attention unless the Caps are good?

Um.

Can I poke you, make sure you're real?

Anyways f' Jiggy. That brick wall has screwed the Red Wings more times than I can count. Hopefully the Senators can find some kind, ANY kind, of answer for him.

Well, Ottawa found an answer tonight, but it was in large part due to their cheating (the Alfredsson goal should not have counted, no way, no how), to Anaheim's continued lapses in concentration and focus (the Fisher goal? C'mon guys, you should know better than that) to the referees calling some soft penalties (especially the second one on Getzlaf in the third that wiped out the last meaningful power play Anaheim had), and to Jiggy having an off night.

Still, having the change advantage helped Ottawa tremendously and showcased the importance home ice is going to continue to play in this series, though you have to imagine Anaheim will be ready with adjustments for Game 4. The bad news for the Ducks is that they'll probably have to do it without Pronger, since I expect him to be suspended for the elbow to McAmmond. It's still obvious to me that Anaheim is the better team - right now, it's just a matter of whether Ottawa can scratch and claw and take advantage of enough breaks to make this a series.

Wow, that's harsh. These days you normally hear the word "cheating" reserved for performance-enhancing substances or ineligible players or intensely dirty play rather than simply playing hard and catching some bounces.

A player can direct the puck off of just about any part of his body as long as he does not apply force to change the direction of the puck (deflect vs. direct). It was very clear very quickly that Alfredsson certainly did deflect the puck with his skate, but there was no "kicking motion" involved until after the puck had already deflected off his skate. It was a goal.

I don't think Pronger should have to take a seat for that elbow/forearm, but it wouldn't suprise me if it happened. The hit against Detroit will definitely work against him. If they do suspend him, though, it better be for one game only.

I also agree that Ottawa benefitted from some marginal calls last night. At the same time, Anaheim stepped up the chippiness and when you do that you're daring the officials to make the calls. Ottawa had their legs last night and played a much much smarter game.

Anaheim's dump'n'chase physically intimidates Ottawa; Ottawa's dump'n'chase physically tires Anaheim. It will be interesting to see if both teams continue to play that style and which one will win out.

Well, I use the word "cheating" in half-jest there, obviously.

Still, it looked like a clear attempt by Alfredsson to kick the puck in, and IIRC, Ottawa had a goal disallowed in an earlier series (against New Jersey, I believe) for a similar tactic that was far less pronounced than what Alfredsson did last night. Just would like to see a little consistency, that's all.

EDIT: It's official - Pronger's out for Game 4 (sports.espn.go.com).
