Personally I'd take a Benoit promo over HHH anyday. But I have agree that Benoit put on some of the best matches of this year and Stone Cold vs. Benoit on Smackdown was on of the best. I don't see how this did not make the top 10 matches over the lingerie match and the HHH vs. Undertaker match considering that I figured the internet fans would have a large part in deciding the matches.
Amen to that. As for the voting, it's not internet fans, but wwf.com fans who did that abomination (assuming the voting was legit, which I honestly have some trouble believing just because it's Vince and I think he'd rig a potato sack race at the company picnic). WWF.com fans still believe JR when he says he'd really like to see a prosperous light-heavyweight division, so that's what you're working with on that voting.
See, the problem with the technical wrestlers is that they overall don't excite the crowd anymore.
FACE IT, the knife-edge chop is no longer special anymore. EVERYONE'S DOING IT, SEA DO!... er... well, everyone and their mother, anyway.
Sensible takedowns and you know, the ability to wrestle a clean match, just doesn't excite people all that much anymore.
And the reason ladder matches don't work anymore is 1) they've been overused and overdone, and 2) if you focus only on the ladder, you miss using the popular gimmicky items like the kendo stick and the chair and the sledghammer, and of course, my friend J.B.'s favorite, the steel chair.
---=---:---=--- [Look up a line] Wow, that belt looks like crap... I'll take it and carry it around for years and see if people can take it away from me... What? What was that? You mean even THIS belt doesn't matter! What? I'm insulted! Get away from me you... you... defiler!
Not only that Helmsley was helped to the back and he's in at peak age and tip-top health. Vince has got himself some serious insecurities. I can understand not wanting to be Dick Vermil, but a torn quad is a torn quad.
