Remember, ECW itself is essentially being 'drafted' to Raw, since they're moving the tapings to Monday nights a bit later this summer. Ergo, we'll see a lot of ECW talent on Raw and vice versa, like the current arrangement with ECW and Smackdown. So, really, guys like Kane, Punk and Kingston moving to Raw isn't really such a huge sea change.

What I'm curious about, however, is now Smackdown won't have any tag champs (Morrison/Miz and Finlay/Hornswoggle are now all on ECW). And Raw still doesn't have a world champion, unless Batista or Cena win on Sunday.

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

Don't forget that the US title is also stuck in ECW. So Smackdown at best has only their World title and the new Diva title (nobody really believes that they'll wind up with two world titles, do they?), which is weird considering the story going around is that JR and HHH got moved to Smackdown to pump it up for the move to MyNetwork this fall. I mean, how do you pump up a show by stripping it of most of its titles?

There's a new Diva title? Is that what they're calling the Women's Title now or is this something else??

Nah, it's SmackDown getting it's own female title, but they're just using "Diva" to take advantage of their trademarks and make it distinct from the other one.

"Night of Champions" is this Sunday. Everything'll be straightened out on that show.

While I'm sure that's true for the World titles (personally, I'm thinking Edge and Cena come out the champions of their respective brands), for both the Tag and US titles both the champions and the challengers are ECW guys. Hardy was traded in the draft, Finley and Hornswoggle were traded in the supplemental. Miz and Morrison have been in ECW for the last year. I wouldn't blame you for forgetting Chavo's an ECW guy, what with the amount of time he spends on Smackdown, but he did wrestle for ECW as recently as last Monday.

It's weird for sure. But they're so lax about who shows up on what show that if they feel like fixing it, they'll just have Matt Hardy appear on Smackdown next week and lose the belt to Domino.

Right, but now Jericho's defending the IC Title on Sunday against a "mystery opponent."

WWE Tag Team Championship...who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if they just kept them on ECW. And FWIW (which is nothing), Miz is still listed as a Smackdown guy on WWE.com.

Miz is only on the Smackdown Superstars page as a champion; he's on the ECW as an actual member. This only begs further questions, though, since Matt Hardy is officially a champion on the ECW roster, so why are Miz & Morrison Smackdown champs?

Easy, for any title situation that doesn't "jive right" after NoC, the title is simply vacated by virtue of being on the wrong show, and a tournament is held at the next ppv to crown the new champion. I mean, there is precedence. Every single time they end up with a champion with the "tier 1" title and the "tier 2" title, don't they just automatically vacate the "tier 2" title, right?

alternatively, they may go the BS route of unifying titles again, but I really really hope they're not stupid enough to try that again... it worked so well last time.

Note: So, aside from jericho, hbk, cena, and santino, they basically moved every single interesting person on raw to smackdown, didn't they?

Keep in mind that they really want to push Smackdown in the fall, when it moves to MyNetwork. Expect lots of preemptions on CW channels in various markets this summer. So as long as SD has a full complement of champions by the start of September, they're really OK. Plenty of time to do that any plenty of ways to make it happen.

I don't think they've done that since Ultimate Warrior won the WWF title in 1990, although I may be forgetting someone. For the most part, I think they just let the guy hang on to both belts. Shawn Michaels (WWF/Euro), Jeff Jarrett and D'Lo Brown(IC/Euro) come to mind. And I've lost count of the amount of times the world champion has been a tag team champion at the same time.

Closest I can think of was 1998 WCW, when Goldberg vacated the US title he'd won from Raven after he took the World title from Hollywood Hulk Hogan.

I don't know what the US title has to do with building up Smackdown! I doubt anybody is sitting at home thinking "I was going to watch Smackdown on MyNetwork in September, but now that there's no US title there is no way I'm watching."

The Deputy might be on to something by pointing out Jericho has a mystery opponent at NoC. Perhaps the mystery opponent is somebody on Smackdown. Even though the US title has been represented better lately (by MVP) the IC title is more significant historically. Maybe they feel the IC title on Smackdown will somehow boost it and since ECW and Raw could share talent Matt Hardy could defend the US Title on Raw. Personally I'd love to see MVP vs. Jericho with MVP then putting some significance back in the IC title. It needs it.

Or, and this is probably just wishful thinking, but maybe Jericho's new friendship with Cade will result in Murdoch winning the IC title from Jericho.
