So how many declared females ARE there on Wienerville, anyway? How many of them post? This could be a mighty small roomful, grrlz. ;-)
Most female-dominated wrestling boards are squeal-fests for the Hardy Boyz, so if this is supposed to be the "serious female wrestling fan" forum, that's a good thing. I'm not sure how different it's going to be from the rest of Wienerville, however. I've never felt unwelcome or shouted down out there on the big bad boys' board, so in that sense it's not necessary to have a ladies-only forum, IMO. Is there really a "female perspective" on wrestling, once we are over the teen heartthrob stuff? Debate.
Completely unsubstantiated hunch: I'm gonna guess that most of the women who do *post* here have jobs in "male dominated" fields. (OK, that sounds sexist, but its just supposed to be us, so ... you know what I mean!) I've been a senior tech lead in telecom, realtime & operating systems for years. I'm awfully accustomed to dealing with roomfuls (or board-fuls or whatever) of guys. And *I* lurked here for a looong time before I registered.
Now this is one of the most polite, *civilized* boards I've ever seen. (I loooove CRZ too for making it so -- but only in a platonic way!) But I would think that there may be women out there not posting, just because they have been unwelcome or shouted down in other places. As I said -- that's just my hunch. Maybe we'll see.
As to MM's debate topic : I'm interested to find out if there is a "female perspective on wrestling". I don't know whether we can know that a priori -- we may just have to try this for a while & see if anything coalesces. Anything that we assert at this point would be gender stereotyping, right? :-)
I know I really get interested in character & plotline development, when we get that done well. I seem to have a much higher tolerance for expository promos than the board at large -- as long as all that talking *goes* somewhere.
Triple H is one of my absolute favourites -- which I absolutely would *never* say in the big bad HHHhaters board. I enjoyed the Steph/Trips divorce run, & especially the image of big ol' Trips holding up Lucy & babytalking to her.
OK, we all know that Kurt Angle is The Next Big God. But does anybody else wish that they'd let him grow his hair back!?!? And who does have the cutest ass in the fed?
I dunno -- there's a few topics. Let's give it a whirl ...
Emma, you are truly welcome. I have had the balls to stand up to those mean HHHaters on the main board, and it's choking me, quite frankly. I look back on the whole HHH/Steph divorce thing, and while I'm not happy that it ended on a fake pregnancy instead of the more believable Kurt/Steph issue, I looked at the tape of the whole storyline, and I must say, that if I didn't know that that would be the buildup to the title match of WM18, it's pretty damn silly, but hilarious! Well, HHH's ass is rather cute, and Kurt's is too. I like the asses you can GRAB!

Hey, its enough to tempt me to post for the first time. To be honest I do feel a little intimidated, mainly coz everyone else seems to know so much, the fact that I only get to watch wrestling 5 days after most people doesn't help either.
I'm not sure if there is a female perspective although I can't ever see thread on who has the best ass on the normal boards (male asses at least).
Thanks CRZ, if nothing else I might pick up the courage to post on the normal board now.
It's cool to have this forum. I haven't been a "weiner" for very long, but I've been a wrestling fan for as long as I can remember, and the most unfortunate thing I've found about being a wrestling fan (aside from sitting through Bradshaw matches) is that there's a definite shortage of people, especially fellow Double X Chromosomers, to discuss it with. Usually, when I meet people who say they're wrestling fans, their knowledge doesn't go beyond "OMG I love the Rock".
Is there a female perspective on wrestling? I'm not sure, I guess I've never really thought about it. Sure, there are a couple of wrestlers I wouldn't mind spending quality time with, but that's always been pretty much secondary to the wrestling.
I'm glad to read that some ladies who didn't want to post in the general forum feel comfortable here. Heh, it's like we're all waiting to exhale. :P
As soon as you're born you start dying, so you might as well have a good time.
Yeah, there's a point. A battle-hardened Usenet bitch like myself sometimes forgets that she used to have more delicate sensibilities. ;-) I do work in a male-dominated industry: computer and video game production. So I'm used to large groups of bellowing fanboys. Not every woman is. And there's no damn reason she should be.
Even I don't venture on most other newsboards, but that's mostly because the level of discourse is determined by thirteen-year-olds. I get enough small-boy whining at home!
At last! A testosterone free zone in Weinerville. Although I like the guys here, it's nice we get a spot to ourselves. I'm just waiting for John E. Somebody to explore his feminine side and post here. Stupider things have been done.
For once, there's a good editorial on the Torch about why the Kane storyline is so terrible--not just of itself, but destructive to the suspension of disbelief necessary for wrestling storylines. I couldn't agree more. http://www.pwtorch.
