Just thought I'd start this post by saying I like Triple H. I think he's the only man deserving of the world title (short of Booker T.) on RAW. I look at the alternatives...Rob Van Dam? His character is that he's a Tai Chi master or something that has an easy going attitude. Not my idea of a champ. I love watching him, and thought he should have had the ECW WORLD title, but not these days. Like Jericho became when he first entered the WWF, he has stalled out. Remember RVD's Somersault into the crowd in ECW? Where's THAT guy? Jericho has picked it up, but sadly his losses the past few months have dimished him (and I REFUSE to blame HHH for that). Kane? Give him some more build up, cause as of right now, we don't need one man holding the tag, IC, and world titles at the same time. Especially KANE. Ric Flair? Too old, can't carry the weight of a world champion's schedule. Randy Orton? You get my point. I believe Booker should be elevated into a feud with the H man, he is one of the most over guys in the fed, and a credible champion. Most of you fans are flipping over the fact that the show revolves around HHH -- but it SHOULD. He is the world champion, and he SHOULD be at this point. Everybody is crying for new stars and new main events, but at this point I believe everybody under Triple H (minus Booker and PERHAPS RVD) ALL need work before I'll buy into them as a main eventers.

Everybody is bitching but HHH is a credible champion, has a lot of charisma, good looks, and can wrestle a good match. The man CAN wrestle, despite what people have been saying. His Iron Man match solidified the fact that he is The Game. And I also hate seeing posts how the only reason he's at the top is because everybody else elevated him, and because he's banging Stephanie. Foley did elevate him, but certainly didn't CARRY him through those matches. Triple H and his ability made those matches great, not JUST Foley's willingness to take crazy bumps. Credit to Foley for doing the job, but credit to HHH for WRESTLING GREAT MATCHES. I think some credit needs to be given to Triple H, credit he hasn't had since the days of 2000. He came back from a horrible injury to regain his spot on top.

Last point - where exactly is the proof that he held Jericho down, or that he held anybody down. Where did Jericho say this? Where did anybody but "Internet Folk" say this? He may be banging Steph (lucky bastard), but why does that mean we have to hate him when RVD has to fight Flair? Is that such a terrible thing to just HAVE THE BELT ON HHH? I think people need to get over the backstage stuff -- it's all heresay. The real reason WWE is in the crapper (business-wise) is non-existant storylines and a bloated, under-utilized roster (not to mention the horrible SPLIT). Titles are being eliminated, HLA, eerie WCW similarities, etc. etc. Stop looking at Triple H beating RVD as the reason Vince will be on the streets in 3 years....(cause he won't).

I'll still be watching WWE, because I always have, and I always will, and I'll still be trying to look at the upside of the whole thing. I look forward to every show, and if you don't, go watch football (panseys!)

(That last sentence was written with a dash of sarcasm, don't take it to heart)

you had me until this line:

"Remember RVD's Somersault into the crowd in ECW? Where's THAT guy?"

doing that today would bring many, many lawsuits on RVD and the WWE and much bad press

That's right rikidozan....I forgot: This is WWE, not ECW. =( The sad thing is that's what happens when an over the top ECW guy has to be watered down to fit in with the WWE style....see Taz(z). But either way, that was just an example. I don't expect him to jump into crowds anytime soon, I just think his "rolling thunder" and even the awesome "split legged moonsault" have all become so routine that I barely ooh and ahh anymore. He needs some new offense and technique (CHARISMA wouldn't hurt either actually).

Ya know, everyone keeps talking about how much the split sucks, but if they reformed into one roster, then everyone would be bitching about how Wrestler A is never one anymore and how they don't give enough TV time to the Cruiserweights, etc.

To go beyond that, have you noticed the difference in distance from the ring to the first row in WWE as compared to ECW. Not only is it further away, but in ECW they would even pull the guard-rail closer to the ring. And to blame his non-push on him not jumping into the crowd is one of the dumber comments I've heard since coming back to this board.

The fact remains is RVD's push got stalled because of HHH. Jericho's push, heat, or any chance at staying at the top of the card for an extended period of time was because of HHH. Hell, Jericho had to let his natural blonde hair color come through because his hair color and length was too close to one particular boyfriend of the boss' daughter.

I don't mind people coming up with reasons to counter why so many hate HHH, but why not come up with one that has some type of foundation to stand on, otherwise it is just going to make you sound like you spent no time thinking of what you wrote.

PB: The law of diminishing returns is applying to the Triple H fan joke, especially since this board is almost 50/50 in terms of vocal pro and anti-HHH people. Time for a new "those wacky group-think smarks" punchline.

Brutle: Others have hit most of the points already, but the one I'll point to is you mention how HHH has been involved in great matches. However, the HHH post-injury is a different animal than the one in 2000. This one is slower, less able to adapt, and far more dependent on his opponent to make the match great. His grasp of ring psychology is still strong, but he seems to hesitant to damage his character's near-invulnerability to use it except against his buddy HBK. Instead we get the same shtick over and over: HHH dominates, opponent gets in a little offense, ref bump, HHH takes a finisher for phantom pin, ref gets up, HHH gets win. Since his return, he has had one very good match, and dozens of pure stinkers, and it took one of the best workers of all time (and one of the few people he will take a beating for) to drag that one good match out of him.

From the general content of the 'net, you could have fooled me.

But I'll keep my mouth shut. It seems like opening my mouth in the 'net wrestling circles is mostly asking for trouble anyway. I'd rather be a wrestling fan than a 'net wrestling commentator.

Are you kidding me? The man can't talk for shit and they fans still LOVE him - you think he hasn't got charisma?!

Mic skills he needs, yes, but charisma? He's got that in bunches, as Kurt Angle would say. All the man has to do is point to himself and the crowd goes nuts. He's barely uttered more than a few sentences and the crowd is totally into him. As far as his offense is concerned, I think he could benefit most from employing more psychology in between and including the highspots. An RVD match is tons of fun, but when I remember it, it always seems like a string of spots more than a cogent wrestling match.

"And in front of the entire world, I want to show my little boy that sometimes - just sometimes, you have to FIGHT to be a man." - Michael S. Hickenbottom, the man who does not take part in angles that conflict with his religion, swearing violent revenge on HHH in full view of his two-year-old son. 11:06 PM, EST. 08/05/02. This angle, which has gone from being a "clean" wrestling match to an all-out unsanctioned street fight for bloody revenge is apparently sponsored by the book of Joshua.

Just remember, to truly hate something, you must first love it very deeply. The people you criticize are among the most intense lovers of professional wrestling there are. The complaints and critiques and anger over the product come not from a desire to tear things down simply to see them destroyed, but because we are being let down by the pasttime we love more than any other. If you think I am wrong or anyone else is wrong for opinions had on WWE or wrestling in general that's cool. But it seems like you are painting people in some very broad stereotypes simply based on the fact their opinion is at odds with yours.

Then maybe I'm better off not being as much of a wrestling fan, if the general content that I see on the 'net is the result of loving wrestling too much.

TRINEO: Even though you've responded to rikidozan's post, it's obvious that you're adding a little suckerpunch to what I originally wrote, so let me make it clear...Just to let you know, I didn't come here to offend anybody who hates Triple H...I just have an opinion. And by the way, don't insult me with a statement about "spending no time thinking" what I wrote, because OBVIOUSLY you didn't read my followup post. If you did, you would have realized that I clarified my statement regarding RVD jumping into crowds. I didn't mean that literally as if he should start jumping in crowds, I just meant...wait a minute...I EXPLAINED this already. Go read up and maybe you won't be clued out next time....

Last point -- Jericho had to change his hair color cause it was too close to Triple H's? Jericho's hair color is darker now, and MUCH MORE Triple-H like than when he first came in, where it was near white. He's looked more like Triple H as the time goes on. Once again, more arguments against Triple H that has been created solely by the suspicion of the "Internet Folk".

That made me laugh all morning. I can just see the commercials that they run during RAW:

It's the WWE LIVE! Sunday, we make our way to San Marcos! Then on Monday, it's RAW in Phoneix Arizona!!

(and during the montage of cool moves, they show a panicked crowd trying to flee from Van Dam in mid-somersault)

Well, Brutle makes some good points. I have something to add. That's fine that HHH is being the champ on RAW (though I have some reservations, which I'll share in a minute). The least that RAW should do is have someone as his foil who can easily be as credible or believable as a top babyface against him. Bubba Ray is close, RVD is too, with some tweaking to his arsenal, but the closest they have to a head babyface is no doubt Booker T. He held that same title 5 times in WCW, and I totally think that if HHH wasn't the world champ, then Booker T should. Booker has that same name credibility that Hunter does, though it's hard to tell with this rivalry with Jamal & Rosey. I think if anyone should take the title from HHH, it's Booker. Booker knows (even more than Hunter) what that belt really stands for, and when he has it, I'm sure we smarks will warm up to the RAW champ idea.

Ringmistress, Bubba Ray is nowhere near close. Crickets were chirping in the crowd when he was cutting his little promo before the championship match last week. Booker, yes. And he can get that credibility that HHH has if some main eventers will lay down for him, like they laid down for HHH two years ago. RVD, yes, but he needs to stop being a spot machine. Kane, yes, but he needs to lose the hillbilly accent and the S&M bondage belts.

Brutle - RVD has charisma, it's just not very articulate charisma :)

Well, Vince could have had this one year ago, but for some reason he had to turn Booker into the ultimate jobber before make him look strong again!
