After 4 years of eating and drinking next to and on my XPS Gen 2...a half cup of hot chocolate onto the keyboard did me in. The warranty just ended 3months ago too.

So with that in mind I need to replace it.

I've been out of the tech-loop regarding gaming laptops since I bought the XPS, and I only recently started noticing that my gaming performance had dipped below what I needed.

Sooo can u guys help me out here? I went to Dell to look and the XPS systems but like I said above I dont know what I should get to be ahead of the gaming curve.

Any help would be appreciated!

Apple's about to announce new laptops in about 6 minutes. Even if you're not interested in getting an Apple, you may want to see if you can wait a week and see how every else counters what they debut.

Depends how much you want to spend really. Alienware laptops are always the ultimate but really expensive and large size.

I'd say max out the RAM(4GB), get a solid CPU and good graphics card. For the price, Toshiba tends to have good deals on gaming laptops so I'd check those out.

Dell owns Alienware, so is there a real significant difference between the Alienware gaming laptops and a Dell XPS?

Thanks...After looking around and checking this link out...I've decided on this:

Can you spec it out for about $3000.00?

Yeah the Alienware ones allow some crazy additions that XPS don't, at least last I checked.

Plus they look cooler.

As for specs, on that laptop I'd go with the 8800 GTX, 2.5 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB Ram, 320GB HD at 7,200 with 16MB Cache....that's right at $2,999.00. Might compare prices with other brands for that type of setup, but that's a laptop that would last you a while.
