Instead of giving contracts/developmental deals to all of these green wrestlers, they should give them to the old WCW guys who were actually entertaining. Give me La Parka battling the hurricane. Give me Lenny and Lodi feuding with Chuck and Billy over the services of Rico. And please, please give me a Norman Smiley/William Regal feud. The facial expression Regal would make upon seeing "the big wiggle" would be worth the price of admission. I really don't give a crap about Maven, Nidia, Jackie, Linda, Jake, and whoever else. The only one semi-entertaining is Chris Harvard, and only because he was such a dick.

Tough Enough brings in higher ratings then any of the guys you named would.

That's true.

And it's not like Tough Enough prevents the WWE from signing anybody else, such as La Parka or Norman Smiley. Vince has PLENTY of money, he can sign as many wrestlers as he wants. He simply chooses not to sign La Parka or Smiley. It's not like he had to make a choice between Tough Enough and other wrestlers.

That's not really true. Vince may have the money to hire every indy wrestler on earth, but he has a very limited amount of airtime to divide up among an already large roster.

As far as the justification for bringing on rookies (and this applies to guys like Randy and Rico just as much as TE winners)... The people you mentioned got as far as they did the first time around. If Vince gives them another shot, they will probably do no better. Maybe a new face will get over like crazy, there's no way to be sure until you give them a shot. And if a rookie doesn't get over at all, they'll eventually get dropped, (way down the card, if not all the way off the roster.)

Here's my question: why do they bother calling it "Tough Enough" when the contestants are pampered like poodles?

They get to live in a fancy house, drive big cars, take lavish vacations .... give me a break! Not to mention free food, the best medical care ....

maybe they should call it "Tough Enough 90210"

Amen to that. At least in the first series they seemed to have had to actually, you know, WORK at it. This year they seemed to schlep the kiddies around on trips that made no logical sense at all (Yea, I really think these guys have to worry about how their ACTION FIGURE looks. EVERY indy wrestler prays they get Real Scanned, I bet)

I never really liked the concept of the show, but at least the first series was somewhat skewed toward the training of it. The second series was. . .well, to be kind, let's say . . ."not."

I wish they would have stuck with the original plan and had a cast of indy wrestlers for TE2. I just can't bring myself to care about these kids, but I can care about dedicated professionals who deserve a shot.

If the people in the house are boring and give MTV nothing to use as filler then I imagine they focus more on the training aspect. The people in TE1 seemed boring in the house segments but maybe that was just me. Well, except for the segment where they tried to burn down the house.

I do find it funny that the wrestling crowd loves being anti-establishment and stuff but the WWE feels (and might be right) that it's fan has no trouble cheering for a complete manufactured wrestler.

Remember back in highschool we used to have to take tests like "what RED is to cherry, ____ is to banana" ANSWER : YELLOW

So I guess O-Town is to music what MAVEN is to wrestling...lol

I'm not really dissing Maven, WWE or Maven's fans. Just find it a little funny.

Well, the difference is that Maven has to go out and prove that he's a capable wrestler to get people to pop for him, but bands like O-Town just need a good publicist and looks to get millions of fans. They may be talented, but they don't need to use that talent. Remember, even the Spice Girls got a *1/2 rating for their debut, and look what they did that year.

Promos aren't usually scripted out by the writers. The writers usually come up with a scenario, and then let the wrestlers fit in the blanks themselves.
