just to say i think benoit may struggle as champ. myself and wrestlemania travel buddie were at raw tonight and benoit got no reaction pop or booing when he came out just polite applause. if he is to stay champ he needs to blow the roof off.
also the guys with their faces shown on raw were aussies and got boo,d all night.
the 3rd biggest pop at mania was for a fake hogan during the lesnar match. what is that saying
also after deadman returned was i the only one who felt let down. same fat gresy biker but better entrance, also why did bearer not get involved.
i think with the shakeup lottery vinny knows things are getting stale and fears for the future.
I was at Raw myself. I don't know what Raw you were at, but Benoit got a hell of a reaction where I was.
There were tons of "Benoit" chants during the opening promo, the crowd also popped huge for his german suplexes, diving headbutt, and Sharpshooter, and he got a standing ovation after Raw went off the air.
"You won't see that on Everybody Loves Raymond!" -J.R. after Trish gets pasted with a chair
And Benoit was ON with that promo, showing intensity and fire. His, "night in, night out, I'll make you tap, and tap, and tap..." was golden. He'll do just fine, but something tells me he'll do it on SMACKDOWN...

Although "tap and tap and tap and tap" has catchphrase potential...I'm not saying it WILL be, but if they let him say it enough it's just sing-along enough that it just may work for him.

I dunno...smacks more of a Gregory Hines or Savion Glover type of gimmick to me. :-)

Ummm...not sure what Raw you were at, my brother was there saying that the crowd was going crazy for Benoit, espcially since they showed the last few minutes of the Triple Threat to the crowd before Raw started. It was obvious he was over from watching it on TV. He is over as champ, and keeping the heat between he and HHH is a good way to keep him over.
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.
You have to admit though that the reaction to Benoit dropped off some when he entered the ring to confront HHH. The crowd I saw weren't cheering much, and when Benoit clocked HHH, I thought I heard some booing (perhaps because Benoit gave Hunter such a cheapshot).
I will admit though that later, in the ring, the crowd loved Benoit. I think it proves that Benoit still has a ways to go before people love his talking as much as they love his intensity inside the ring.
In the old days, Hogan was the Zeus at the top of the mountain... BUT he was rarely featured on the weekly shows like WWF Superstars. You'd only see him wrestle on house shows, the PPVs, and Saturday Night's Main Event.
