That's it, I'm checking out, I'm done, enough is enough.

Guess what?

I'm not talking about WWE programming, I'm talking about this board. I'm asking Guru or the Zed himself to go ahead and ban me as soon as they read this, just to ensure that I never post here again. I look at myself in the mirror right now and it's a sad thing. How did I ever get here? How did I get to the point where wrestling is so important that I feel the need to spend 2 hours defending WWE every night. I like the shows, you don't. I don't like it here, you do. I'm gonna do the smart thing and stop subjecting myself to something I don't like, even if it takes having to have the big guys ban me to do it. Now, before I go, I'd like to point out that this board is worse than the WWE. Hell, this board has more tired storylines than the WWE ever has. Like the one where Ringmistress goes off and quits watching once a month. Or the one where people complain about the shows so someone complains about that and we go around and around in one big circle. Guru said in another topic that he was this close to shutting this board down and I hope he does it. Then maybe you all could back away from this and see wrestling/sports entertainment for what it really is: a television show with no real importance. If it's fun to watch it, watch it, if it's not fun to watch it, don't watch it. It's common sense. I'm honestly in shock over how seriously most people here take this stuff. It's fake guys. It's fake. Oh well guys, see ya on down the trails. It was a lot of fun there for a while, but this board has turned into a bitter watered down version of what it once was, so I'm out. I implore you all to consider the same.

So I guess you don't critique anything else? Sports, movies, music, other TV shows? Everybody's got opinions, BHSR (insert your favorite reference to bodily orifices here ) - the interest is seeing how people defend them. If it was all Yes!No!Yes!No! like Scorpio of WCW days-gone-by, it would indeed be deadly dull and boring. This board is more like the McLaughlin Group - a group of opinionated, dysfunctional types (I include myself in that description) who like to debate the finer points of continuing sagas. Sometimes, it's a clash of angry voices; other times, it's a hilarious study in contrasts. I can appreciate both.

I agree, this board has been more negative of late, but the quality of the programming (especially the RAW programming) has a great deal to do with that. It's not just us in the IWC saying that, either - witness the drops in ratings, in house show attendance, in PPV buys. Smackdown! is getting back on track (wonder how much Heyman is responsible for that); RAW may take longer to come around. I may be taking a break from watching RAW in person, but I'll still be watching Smackdown!.

I fully realize that WWE programming is preplanned. So are other TV shows - ER, for instance - and that doesn't stop me from critiquing them. If the current negativity puts you off that much - well, fine, leave. I'll wait and see what happens around the bend.

And to give you one last poke ( ) - I believe it was CRZ who wanted to shut this down, not the Guru.

Bye!

Steph

P.S. Say "Hi" to WhoBettahThanDeion, who seems to have joined you in your exodus from Wienerville.

Jkyle.com says:

It's the internet man, people complain. That's what the internet DOES!

Seriously, wrestling just has the most organized and vocal online critics, due IMHO its unheard of amount of shows compared to other programming. If Friends aired new stuff 4 times a week might there be thousands of people nitpicking every last thing about it?

Just take a breather. Don't get yourself banned. Leave for some time and relax. It's just a message board. As long as it's here you're likely to see "HHH is the devil VS HHH is not the devil", "WWF is just like the end of WCW VS It ain't goin nowhere" so acceptance is the first step buddy.

Try doing what I do and spending most of your time in the Random folder and remember not to let your eyes roll too far back when you see the term "heel turn" used in regards to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

BTW please understand I'm not criticizing anyone here I'm just trying to be positive for once.

Guru's said it too.

Seems like everybody wants to shut down the board but us.

I should have listened to spf2119 about HHH because he is the smartest Wiener around.

Vikings (1-5) - Well on our way back to 1-15.
Badgers (5-3) - Apparently the Motto is now "Wisconsin: Seeing How Many Close Games We Can Lose"
Twins (OUT) - Oh well, if we're still around next year...
Buffy 7.4 earns a 6.123 Out of 10 for being contrived and rather stupid. But at least the characters are less annoying than last season. And next week: All Anya, All the Time.

Among the things that I enjoy about Wienerville are that the "denizens" are generally articulate & knowledgeable, & that there is usually a nice diversity of topics available. I'm always interested to get on the board after a show & see what other people thought about it -- whether they noticed the same things I did, or noticed other things I missed, & so forth.

At one point earlier this evening, I believe there were 7 threads related to tonight's show. One was speculation on what "Chamber of Elimination" might be. In the other 6, there were roughly 124 posts. Of those, there were about 4 posts that had content talking about anything other than The Video & related matter. I think more than anything, I'm disappointed that there seemed to be so little interest in anything else in the show. I've gotten pretty good at ignoring the threads that devolve into "HHH is the devil", & other topics that in my opinion have been beaten to death. But tonight there was almost nothing else. That's bothersome.

Tonight I didn't get that sense of civilized (albeit dysfunctional :-) ) exchange of opinions that Stephanie describes. And over the last couple of weeks there's been so much energy surrounding Killer Kane & Dead Man Cheating. I suppose I've gotten spoiled & was just expecting better from Wienerville at large.

Like that one time that one guy dramatically "retired" from Wienerville because he was getting tired of how people took a TV show too seriously! They do get old, don't they?

Eh...

If he wants to let his actions be controlled by how other people think and what other people say, let him leave.

And if you see an anti-free speech political party start up here in the next few days, you'll have a pretty good idea who came up with it.

The weird thing is that you think you need SOMEONE ELSE'S HELP to ensure that you never post here again.

Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't Guru want it shut down because he was so disgusted by Raw last night? Like all the people who are driving BHSR away from this board?

I think the problem is that WWE has been hammering that angle in every single segment for weeks now, so everything else is made to seem utterly irrelevant, thus no one even here pays much attention. All night last night Lawler was talking about it constantly, sounding so much like Schiavone with the NWO it was scary. What point in commenting on the Dreamer/Snow/Nowinski angle if WWE's own hired mouthpieces think it so unimportant as to ignore it so they can continue to focus on the "does Kane fuck corpses?" angle?

Farewell threads... ugh.

This board is one of the best things about the whole wrestling experience. Even when I don't agree with someone, they almost always post their thoughts in an intelligent semi-well-thought-out manner. And it's fun to argue back and forth. Yes, it's just a wrestling show, but it's part of a pasttime that we all enjoy, so why not get a little emotionally invested?

And yeah, RAW has been pretty darn awful lately. But BHSTR, what about Smackdown? That has been widely praised... just read one of Dean's workrate reports. When a show gets bad, most people aren't just gonna make excuses and rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic, they're gonna bitch. Sometimes loudly, in the hopes that if enough people bitch loudly enough that changes will be made. I think the WWE pays attention. One wrestler (I think it was Storm) made some reference as to how much power the internet crowd has, in terms of feedback. I think this is all a part of that.

I hate farewell threads, but if you're gonna leave, don't wait for someone to ban you. Later.

Awfully sporting of you to wear yourself out like that ``defending the WWE.'' That's quite the mantle to adopt; I'm sure it wasn't worth what they were paying you...

Some people talk more than others. Some ``think out loud'' on message boards. If you walk into every conversation convinced that you've got to change people's minds, you're fucked. I personally may not understand why someone's nose is all bent out of shape over a wrestling storyline, but that's his or her prerogative. Just like it's his or her prerogative to watch the show in the first place. And to complain vocally about it to anyone who will listen.

As for announcing your departure, I have two thoughts about that: asking to be banned is basically admitting you lack the self-control to avoid a situation that you freely admit bothers you (I'm supposed to respect this?); second, it's like the people who say, ``I'm going to go take a big dump.'' It's something very personal to you, but frankly, why would I give two shits?

/tarnish...

how come you're so afraid of things that dont make any sense to you? do you water your raisins daily? do you have any raisins? is there anything that does make sense to you? are you afraid of twelve button suits? how come you're so afraid to stop talking?

Maybe BobHollyStillRules should be un-banned when Bob Holly returns... I liked his positivity. I know he'll still be reading many posts if he had to ask to be restrained from posting. Un-banning him a year from now would offer some CONTINUITY to these Wienerville storylines ;)

BobHollyStillRules, if you like storylines involving raping dead bodies and murder on a wrestling show and feel the need to desparately defend the company that promotes them, then you got bigger problems then the negativity on this board.

Want to leave here? That's a great idea. While you're at it, go get some much needed time on the couch. You are a sick man.

Dude, I used to be a regular WWF/E defender myself. In fact, I used to write fairly regularly about wrestling online. Some nothing site called "nWWWo", dunno if you've ever heard of it.

After a while, I decided it was easier to just watch wrestling than to report on it, because reporting on it just led to overanalyzing everything. I still posted regularly on here for a while, even after that...but quite frankly, I learned it wasn't worth wasting my breath. People are stubborn(I'm no exception), so I doubt anything I say will get them to change their minds.

Maybe the general negativity of the online scene is just getting to me too...especially with the problems that WWF/E has been having in recent times. At least I have some alternatives...there's the local indy fed, GCW, plus the tapes of NWA-TNA that I get from a friend.
