"Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" debuted with $38 million, off $2.1 million from the opening numbers the first movie put up in November 2000, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The previous weekend's No. 1 movie, "The Hulk," fell to second place, free-falling 70 percent from its $62.1 million opening. "The Hulk" took in $18.4 million to squeak past the $100 million mark after 10 days in theaters.

This really doesn't suprise me, considering the flick underperformed last weekend. Anyway, there's no way Universal at least can't be disappointed with these numbers, especially when the movie had a production budget of about 150 million, and another 50 million or more for marketing, distribution, etc.

What went wrong? The biggest thing had to be the false advertising. Universal pushed this as a big summer movie with lots of smash and SFX, instead people went and got a weird, overdone freak show. Mixed reviews probably didn't help either. The movie itself tries, but that climax was literally unwatchable, and it didn't have a more enjoyable, quicker first act like an X2 or Spider-man. But I just want to say these results don't make me scratch my head, because if you watch the movie it was to be expected.

I think the Charlie's Angels 2 numbers are less than impressive considering with adjusted ticket prices and all over the first flick. I'm wondering what's going to happen next week and see what people think of T3, because...I mean a Terminator without Cameron? bad news.

The (relatively) low box office for Charlie's Angels is a sign that people will pay to see special effects and action, but they won't pay to see blatant T & A. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

I would be very surprised if they end up making a Hulk sequel, which is disappointing since I thought that Ang Lee made a good effort at doing something different.

Oliva: You are the weakest link! Goodbye!

Stewie: Ahahaha. Oh God, that's funny. That's really funny. You write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' You know I've never heard anyone make that joke before. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference that outside program before. Because that's what she says on the show, right? Hmmm? 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' And ye...ye..yet you've taken it and....and used it out of context to insult me in this everyday situation. What a clever, smart girl you must be. To come up with a joke like that all by yourself. Mmmmm...that's so fresh too. Any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. Mmmm? Cuz i'm here God you're so funny!

People would pay for real T&A, but not for PG-13 T&A. I mean, you could buy the new Maxim with all three Angels in it for less than a movie ticket and you get to keept it.

Now, if the movie was rated R and any number of them were at least topless (or Demi Moore), you might have had a higher BO>

that doesn't always ring true odessasteps, remember Swordfish? And Joel Silver only paid Halle Berry half a million extra for it.

Well, Swordfish at least had ACTING and a story. I saw Charlie's Angels 2...and it's two hours of my life I'll never get back. The best two parts in the entire film were the John Cleese scenes with Lucy Liu explaining about Charlie without actually explaining everything {"We took on 12 sailors...") and the hiliariously bad puns at the end ("Mind if I cut in?" and "You are SO fired")

The movie was THAT BAD. If I had paid to see it, I would've felt ripped off.

Hell, I still feel ripped off.

You know this could be one of the worst summers in movie history. And it's only to get worse with sequels of "Legally Blonde", "Tomb Raider", and another "Spy Kids" sequel.

At least in December "LOTR, Return of the King" comes out. There's a movie I'm looking forward to.

This whole summer's been nothing but sequels, more often than not completely unnecessary ones - "X-Men" and "The Matrix", sure, but what about "Charlie's Angels", "Dumb And Dumber", "The Rugrats Movie AND The Wild Thornberrys Movie" and "The Fast And The Furious" - and that doesn't even include upcoming sequels to "Legally Blonde", "The Terminator", "American Pie", "Bad Boys", "Spy Kids", "Friday the 13th AND A Nightmare On Elm Street" and, most pointlessly, "Tomb Raider" on the way. Because, you know, there were so many unanswered questions in the first one.

Well, I had one - why the heck does Lara Croft spend 95% of the movie not dressed like Lara Croft?

Unfortunately, looking at the previews I don't think it's answered THIS go around either.

Word. And Jolie's made it clear in interviews that she wants to portray a more "athletic looking" woman this time. Translation: kiss the padded bra and round thighs goodbye, and there goes any similarity to the game...and my interest.

I'm going to see T3, but my expectations are VERY low so I won't be terribly disappointed.

I know this has already been knocked around but I just saw Hulk yesterday and I personally didn't find it that horrible. The CGI was impressive, although I agree that the Hulk did not show as much facial emotion as he could have, to make you feel more for the character. I wasn't that thrown by the artistic experiments in the movie--to me it's just an adaptation on what previous superhero movies have done to appear more like a comic book.

I guess overall I liked it. Having more character development ultimately helped this movie, or it would have been nothing *but* smash and crash CGI characters, which is boring.

I am holding out hope for at least one movie this summer: Pirates of The Caribbean looks like it could be fun.

But I have been seriously let down by everything I have seen this summer and I'm not looking forward to T3...

Count me in for Pirates of the Caribbean. There hasn't been a good pirate movie for a long time. It probably won't be another Captain Blood, but it looks good nonetheless.

Terminator without James Cameron at the wheel is going to be a trainwreck. Also, aren't they aware that some sexy chick in a red leather jumpsuit is NOT SCARY, whether or not she has doodads coming out of her that blow shit up? Robert Patrick was one cold, ruthless, creepy T-1000. There's no way their topping him with some silly bint showing off her ass.

Tomb Raider mystifies me. I didn't think the first one made enough money to warrant a sequel, but I guess I'm mistaken. Needless to say, I'd rather drink a case of Zima than go see that.

I am, however, looking forward to Bad Boys 2 as some quality popcorn entertainment. I'm sure I won't be able to remember the plot three days later, but my money's on some sweet explosions and good wisecracks. And, really, that's the only reason to watch a buddy movie.

And who doesn't want to see Freddy vs. Jason? That's a slasher-flick fan's dream come true.
