I was kicking myself hard for missing taping this show. I happened to see this and the hotel sketch before I fell asleep. It was nice to see Hugh on there, and he definitely brought the funny to SNL.
It's a beautiful song with a beautiful message. It's actually a Hugh Laurie original, I believe, but credit to SNL for having the great sense to ask him to do it.

I heard somewhere that it was a song he originally wrote for the British sketch comedy show "A Bit Of Fry And Laurie". From looking at TV.com's Episode lists, I'm guessing it was Episode 4.1, which has a skit called "Gordon's Unintelligible Song".
