-- I’ve now read two fan reports from a British and an American fan, each saying the same thing, that Bret Hart is in NY and staying in a hotel there.
-- Of course, this is by no means confirmed and publicly the WWE (and Bret) are still saying nothing has been reached between the two parties, BUT, at the same time reliable sources report that Paul Bearer will be at the event and yet WWE and Mr. Bearer also are refuting those claims.
-- A call to said hotel has revealed that Bret is “not there” (at least under that name), but that of course is probably to be the expected response to a member of the public.
-- Unlike in other posts, I am not going to speculate upon what he may be doing if he is in NY, as its pretty clear, but I stress once again that this information comes to me from two unproven sources and is not in any way shape or form confirmed. I will do some more digging into this throughout today and tomorrow, and one of our dedicated team of writers will have an update for you as soon as possible.
I'm so excited about seeing Bret at Wrestlemania. My source (Smith hart) said way back in january that Bret would be a part of wrestlemania and that the plan at the time was to have him involved with Kurt Angle in some way. I posted a thread about it back when all this first happened however I accidentally identified Smith as Keith therefore making an ass out of myself.
THIS IS THE INTERNET. NOTHING IS CERTAIN UNTIL THE SHOW BEGINS.
That being said, I saw Bret Hart last week in Calgary and he seemed in good spirits and looking much, much better than he was a while ago. So, I guess anything could happen. I'm not counting on him showing, though, but if it DOES happen...WOW.
"And as for the rumour I'll be appearing at Wrestlemania XX tomorrow at MSG, I want to wish Chris Benoit all the luck in the world and, to all the grapplers, have the time of your lives.
Considering he lost his Worker's Comp attempt in D.C., I wouldn't be shocked if he came crawling back for the money. At the very least, it would prove yet another McMahon critic will go rolling in the dog feces to make a buck in the process.

Apparently that was a procedural matter in regards to an insurance claim he's making for his career-ending injury and the way he was terminated from WCW.
Vince has been licking Bret's balls for the past 2 years to try and get him to even show his face on WWE programming and Bret hasn't bit. If/When he comes back, it's clearly on his terms to do what he wants and for his own reasons.
The only scenario I can picture him being in, is if Benoit won the belt and Bret came out to congratulate him. Then some of the other faces came out, basically a rehash of WMX.
(which Bret mentioned at the start of his column.. could it be a SIGN??? OMFG??!?!?!?!)

I think that's the only fitting scenario. Unless you throw in a post-match HBK heel turn, with Bret saving Benoit from the beatdown.
Ah, to dream.

Bret's article from the Calgary Sun (thanks Bullitt) sounds like he's still pretty sour on Vince and Shawn Michaels. I take him at his word that he won't be at MSG.
So sayeth Randy Stilton, the real Stinky Cheese Man!

Ah, to dream.
And what a dream, having Benoit win the title, get beaten up by Shawn Michaels, and saved by an old man with limited mobility. What a strong start it would be as champion.
Even if Bret could wrestle again, I wouldn't want to see him back. Roddy Piper and Sable have already sacrificed their self-respect to make their returns to WWE. I would hope Bret's better than that.

Crawling? When Vince is the one who's been trying to mend fences for two years and keeps giving him open invitations, as fuelinjected said?
And to do what? Wrestle? He kind of can't. Make one special appearance? He wouldn't be paid for that.
I'd love to see him and I'll gladly be wrong but Bret isn't going to be on the show, I'm sorry.
What? Vince wouldn't pay for that?? Of course Vince would have to pay for Bret to fly down and appear at WMXX. At this point, I think Vince would pay Bret a half million dollars. Hell, gotta use the Brock money somehow.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think Bret will appear, but if he does it will be because he was WELL compensated.
Tonight, you will see the return of the Undertaker, the Dead Man that most of us have been clamoring for for years.

Did you expect him to write "Well, watch WMXX, I am gonna do a surprise appearance!".
I think that there's a 25% chance that he will be there. WMXX without Bret Hart (and Hogan for that matter, only in a small role) doesn't feel right.

Everything I say is a lie. Except that. And that. And that. And that. And that....And that.
I hope while HHH is laying knocked out, and Benoit and HBK are battling near the siderails, Bret shows up and EL KABONGs HBK with a chair. Payback for Survivor Series, AND help Benoit get the gold!
Triple H goes out with an injury early in the match, leaving it to be Benoit vs. HBK. HBK heels massively and throws some blinding salt in Benoit's eyes, superkicks him, and pins him for the title.
Bret runs out from the back to console Benoit(to a MASSIVE ovation)and HBK grabs the microphone to taunt Bret and challenge him right there to a match. A blinded Benoit gives Bret his okay, and Bret enters, ducks the blinding salt and the superkick, and immediately lands a legdrop...er, applies the sharpshooter to HBK to win the World Title in 30 seconds. Thus he gains the revenge from WMIX.
Why HBK would be carrying blinding salt is beyond me, though.
