Some pretty funny lines in that article. But, looks like the Knicks will only get worse.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

Portland gets him for cash, which is also known as SEC recruiting.

In the words of Hell, Michigan's favorite TNA representative, INCINERATION! I do wish he did both rounds, if only to see what he'd say about a certain Greek center.

The 1st round rundown, after trades and such, looks like this:

1. Toronto - Andrea Bargnani (Italy)
2. Chicago - LaMarcus Aldridge (Texas)(Traded to Portland)
3. Charlotte - Adam Morrison (Gonzaga)
4. Portland - Tyrus Thomas (LSU)(Traded to Chicago)
5. Atlanta - Sheldon Williams (Duke)
6. Minnesota - Brandon Roy (Washington)(Traded to Portland)
7. Boston - Randy Foye (Villanova)(Traded to Minnesota)
8. Houston - Rudy Gay (UConn)(Traded to Memphis)
9. Golden State - Patrick O'Bryant (Bradley)
10. Seattle - Mouhamed Saer Sene (Senegal)
11. Orlando - J.J. Redick (Duke)
12. New Orleans - Hilton Armstrong (UConn)
13. Philadelphia - Thabo Sefolosha (Switzerland)(Traded to Chicago)
14. Utah - Ronnie Brewer (Arkansas)
15. New Orleans - Cedric Simmons (NC State)
16. Chicago - Rodney Carney (Memphis)(Traded to Philadelphia)
17. Indiana - Shawne Williams (Memphis)
18. Washington - Oleksiy Pecherov (Ukraine)
19. Sacramento - Quincy Douby (Rutgers)
20. New York - Renaldo Balkman (South Carolina)
21. Phoenix - Rajon Rondo (Kentucky)(Traded to Boston)
22. New Jersey - Marcus Williams (UConn)
23. New Jersey - Josh Boone (UConn)
24. Memphis - Kyle Lowry (Villanova)
25. Cleveland - Shannon Brown (Michigan State)
26. L.A. Lakers - Jordan Farmar (UCLA)
27. Phoenix - Sergio Rodriguez (Spain)
28. Dallas - Maurice Ager (Michigan State)
29. New York - Mardy Collins (Temple)
30. Portland - Joel Freeland (England)

That sound you heard was hundreds of Knicks fans all smashing in their televisions at once. Not only did the Eddie Curry trade keep them from getting LaMarcus Aldridge or Tyrus Thomas, but Isiah drafted MORE GUARDS! Take comfort, Knicks fans. Isiah's only sealing his fate here.

The Lakers got a good point guard prospect, meaning the writing is on the wall for Smush Parker, who BOMBED during that series with Phoenix.

New Jersey may have gotten the draft's biggest steal with Marcus Williams.

And one more thought: When was the last time (if ever) that the Los Angeles Clippers didn't have a first round pick, period?

Isiah has to be doing this on purpose, right? Balkman was only considered a second round pick because he'd had good workouts, and Isiah picks him in the mid first round? He'd have been a stretch at number 45 let alone number 20.

The Gay for Battier trade is almost as ridiculous. I'm not a big fan of Gay, but he definately has the potential to be a superstar. Battier is an OK role player and nothing more, definately not worth a #8 even in a weak draft. The Rockets god a gift with Gay falling that far, but they botched this one.

The Shelden Williams pick at five was bad, too. He's undersized for his position and that's going to take away a lot of his defensive value. His absolute upside would have to be about Carlos Boozer, which isn't bad, but I'd have taken Roy or Gay in that spot.

Morrison and Thomas are the two I think will be the best in this draft. Morrison is going to be a bigtime scorer and Thomas could be a beast in a few years. I was reallly impressed with Thomas during the NCAA tourney.

As a Grizzlies fan I like the Battier-Gay trade becuase it is in our favor, but I don't think it's by a ridiculous amount. Saying Battier is just OK is underestimating him. He'll score 10 points every night, he'll shoot nearly 50% every game even though he takes a lot of jump shots, and he'll play great defense at all times. In the long run Gay is the better choice but I think Houston wants to win now while they have McGrady and Yao so I think it makes sense to get a more experienced player like Battier. Jerry West continutes to do good things though, I nearly thought Marcus Williams was going to drop to the Grizzlies at 24 to go along with Gay.

11. Orlando - J.J. Redick (Duke)

Perfect choice. He may or may not become a "star", but at worst, I see Reddick as a Mullin or Price, which ain't bad. Good shooter, 20ish a game. Long term, if he does okay, Reddick will be primo trade bait, if necessary. He has potential to be great. And he'll behave once Dinsey money starts coming his way. Also, a great benefit is he will draw people to the O-rena / create interest in the team. That's been a problem

IF Tyson Chandler can get his ass in gear, I'm getting more and more amped about each season.

And to think that the Bulls could have ANOTHER lottery pick next year as long as they finish better than the Knicks in the 06-07 season.

AND add that they're receiving more picks next year due to this year's draft trade makes me think they're going to package something/someone for a star.

Yeah -- this is going to be good.

As a Knick fan I had two emotions going last night:

1. ANGER.
After this draft, we will be even worse than last year. Our two draft picks do nothing to make us better NOW and Isiah feels he can trot out the same team as last year and win. He is wrong. Realistically, there is a chance we only win 15-20 games. If no other GOOD moves are made, we are going to implode.

2. JOY.
By not drafting anyone of name, ie Marcus Williams, there will be no leeway for Isiah. Whoch means we as Knick fans and NBA fans should only be less than 11 months away from riding the Knicks and the NBA of isiah Thomas for good. After the mess he will have left the Knicks in, no one will ever take a chance on him again. And if that is the case, then I am ecstatic. The worst cancer the NBA has ever seen will be gone.

Thank goodness for the Nets. At least there is a local team I can continue to support and cheer on. They had a great draft in Williams and Boone and both of those players will be solid bench guys for the next two years and potential starters in 3-4. And while they are not enough to help the Nets get past Miami, Cleveland and Detroit, they should keep the Nets very compeitive for years. Of course, they also could be trade bait for KG.

You might kill the symptoms, but the disease'll still be there, because Dolan ain't going nowhere. Isiah is merely the head currently on top of the Knicks hydrabeast, just like Scott Layden was prior to Isiah being there.

He is so delusional that it is almost laughable. Almost. Curry is awful. He has no desire to go along with no rebounding abilities. he should be DOMINATING 95% of the Centers out there (sans Shaq, Big Ben and Amare). But instead, he is so non-intimidating that 6' point guards feel more than OK to drive the lane on him and posterize him. And this is your centerpiece? Yikes.

If the Knicks kept the pick, they could have taken a guy like Adam Morrison who the NY fans would have loved. A scored with intensity and a love for the game who is always hustling. THAT is what NY (and most) fans want. Morrison could have owned this town. But Isiah would rather have Curry. This is why he will be fired by this time next year.

As for Dolan, I firmly beleive that Isiah is all at fualt here and got Dlan to buy into his plan hook line and sinker. Dolan is a rich dope who would rather party and play in his band than run things right. He defered to Isiah on all issues and didn;t question them. The hope now is next year, they hire a competent GM who will run things right and that Dolan will follow his plan as blindly as he followed isiah's.

Getting rid of Brown was the right decision as the team quit on him and he quit on them. There was no need to keep him around for another year. Now, dumping Isiah in the same breath would have been perfect but I will enjoy watching isiah crash and burn as a coach and even worse as a GM as he offers every lousy player the Knicks have in a trade. Oh and know this, Channing Frye and David Lee are GONE. If he only has one year to turn it around, he will trade every expiring contract and promising young player for that one superstar and 5 awful contracts to put us further into cap hell until 2010.

I still like Smush. The Lakers were originally planning to have Aaron McKie start at point guard, then have Smush come off the bench behind him. I think Smush would be perfect as a back-up PG, but Aaron got injured so they had to start Smush. I thought he did a pretty good job during the regular season, but like you said, he fell completely apart during the playoffs. He'll be a fine starting PG someday (we hope), just not today.

Laker GM Mitch Kupchack(sp?) says Jordan Farmar (our 1st round pick) wont see significant minutes next season, but they are really high on him. He says they are still looking to make a deal for a NBA veteran PG, so I havent lost hope yet.

When was the last time (if ever) that the Los Angeles Clippers didn't have a first round pick, period?
Actually, longtime Clippers' play-by-play man Ralph Lawler was on the radio before the draft yesterday joking that this was the first draft day in L.A. Clippers' history that their phones werent ringing off the hook with offers for their 1st round picks. Comedy.

Plus, we get Stro Swift back who can help on D with blocked shots and rebounding.

I'm gonna miss Battier- he was such a professional, and could shoot the lights out. But Gay could become a superstar. Lowry will help on D too, and, from what I've read, is a real hustle player.

While there is nothing funnier and more exciting than seeing a New York crowd ready to boo whatever stiff that New York drafts (I swear, after Ronaldo "No, not Blackman" Balkman was annouced, Jay Bilas, Steven A and Greg Anthony looked like Stern just came out naked) and I can't wait to see Isiah's "Wow, I DO suck as a GM" face after having to coach these guys (I'm guessing we'll see it by Game 16, when they are 5-11 and Jalen Rose is burying the team and trading bad jokes with John Salley on The Best Damn Sports Show), I still say that Curry for the No. 2 pick in the draft is a decent deal. Now, couple in the fact that the Bulls can switch with them next year, then yeah, it's smelling like a disaster, but there really isn't a 'big' in this draft that's better than Curry. Aldridge is soft and not very strong (although I think Roy will make him better in Portland). Bargnani is about 3 yrs away from being anything decent and his BEST CASE scenario is probably Paoul Gasol, but I keep seeing him as another Raef LaFrentz without his old leaping ability (if Curry was in this draft, the Raps would have definitely taken him). Patrick O'Bryant isn't lighting the world on fire. Shelden Williams is too small and won't do the things he did at Duke. Keep in mind that Andrew Bogut was the No 1 pick last year, averaged 9 and 7 and no one says he's a bust. And he's only 2 yrs younger than Curry. Curry, in a 'bad' year, averaged 13 and 6. I see a lot of upside to this guy. People like to rush prospects, but big men take time to 'dominate'. Look at Ben Wallace. Or even Yao Ming. Isiah's a terrible GM and a bad coach, but he's right when he said that a lot of GMs would have taken this guy very early.

(BTW, the funniest story I hear this week about the Knicks, and quite possibly the best basketball story I've heard in a long while, is Dolan saying that Brown wanted the Knicks to waive 6 guys, including Marbury, and he wanted to pick up a 43 yr old Charles Oakley. Larry should have just coached the Knicks while holding a "I want to be fired" over his head. It would have been less obvious).

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

It was even better when he was the ONLY one on the planet, let alone in the crowd, saying "He's a sleeper" after the Knicks drafted Balkman. You could see in his eyes that even he did not believe his own words. Good times.

By the way, i do not have a link for it, but Bill Simmons (The Sports Guy) kept his annual running diary of the draft on his EXPN page and it is hysterical.
