I am looking to create a site for myself, and have no idea where to start, or what needs to be done afterwards. Is there a set process, or are there different steps? Like I said, I am completely clueless and need guidance. Promote this thread!

But make sure you view the right sources. Go here: http://www.csszengarden.com and start out right. Check out some of the pages there, and learn from them. Buy a book on XHTML and one on CSS. Learn them. Start simple(no frames, no scrolling marquees, no flash, no table designs). There's a right way to make websites these days. It involves using standards and proper markup. Learn and grow in peace.

I think I have narrowed it down to either geocities or tripod. Does anyone know which is better, or if either have standout features?
