In other words, how many different wrestling shows do you get to see a week on TV in your area? I'm just kinda curious because all we get here is the usual: Raw, Smackdown and NWA TNA on PPV (which I've ordered maybe 4 times and probably won't again for a while). No Lucha stuff. No indy promotions. Nada. So, what do the rest of you get, and, do you watch it?

WWE and NWATNA for free (Well not really but I didn't pay my last 2 PPV bills and they just magically dissapeared off the next one???). I was getting Don Callis' IWA Winnipeg promotion for a little bit on an Aboriginal Station but I dunno what happened to that. We get AWA Classics every Wednesday on ESPN Classic Canada.

Living in Jersey, I get the Philly tv, and on WGTW during weekdays at midnight there are indy tv shows, including:

Monday- XPW TV. Never watched it, but might have to start since XPW seemingly has a hold on the former ECW arena in 2K3.

Tuesday- ROH TV. Watched it a couple of times, but like CZW it suffers from having to show footage from months ago. I thus cannot get into storylines much because they are dated.

Wednesday- GLOOW TV. Watched it a couple of times, and the wrestling is so bad. On the upside, they have some hotties that "wrestle" for them.

Thursday- PWF TV (I think that is it). Never watched it.

Friday- NWA Wildside TV. Will watch it if it's on and I'm bored. The arena is small and there are hardly any fans, and I can't get into their stories either.

We also have CZW Fake You TV on Saturday nights, but I stopped watching and attending CZW shows after a tasteless (to me) "Symbolification" angle.

We get a NWA-TNA Saturday Morning show hosted by Jeremy Borash and Bert Prentice and the only reason why he's hosting is because he "leased" his promotion's t.v. time to NWA-TNA.

We also get USWO Wrestling but it's crap. It's a local promotion but it never will get close to Nashville. It's mainly in the rural areas, meaning there are a ton of rednecks in the crowd.

I get the WWE standards and NWA-TNA, but I don't actually buy the NWA-TNA PPVs.

Around here (New York City), we get the WWE shows and a three-hour weekly block of lucha on one of the Spanish-language channels. Oh, and NWATNA, of course, even though I've only ordered that once.

I'm currently living in Taiwan, and it's got to be one of the best places for wrestling on TV. There are two channels that basically show nothing but wrestling, MMA and ultra-soft-core porn. Between the two of them they show WWE, ECW, New Japan, AJPW, FMW, NOAH, some old Michinoku Pro, some lucha, and at least 4 different Japanese women's wrestling promotions, as well as that awful WOW, and some old Texan thing with Kerry Von Erich and a young Jeff Jarret. USWA, maybe? They also show UFC, Pride and King of the Cage. Oh, and Korean sumo wrestling. The only problem with all the Japanese stuff is that I can't speak Japanese, or read Mandarin well enough to understand most of the subtitles, so it's usually pretty confusing. And Raw, which is on ESPN here, is actually dubbed into Mandarin, or at least has this little fat Chinese bloke shouting over everything. Which actually improves a lot of the promos.

Same thing here, plus Galavision on basic cable, which gives us the 2 lucha shows Saturday & Sunday. (See thecubsfan.com for details.) I'm always suprised that among the multitude of different cable providers around San Diego, they don't all carry Galavision.

Raw, SmackDown, Heat, Live Wire, and Velocity, plus occasional FWA specials on Bravo and NJPW on Eurosport. Not too shabby.

Forgot the Galavision shows. I catch those every once in a blue moon.
I do get Galavision here as well. There are 4 different Canals de Espanol on basic cable here.

Depends on who your cable is with. Time Warner (formerly Southwestern) does not offer Galavision, but Cox does. I don't know if Daniels is even around in North County any longer... but they have a different line-up as well.

Your analogy is similar to:

"They already have cars that you can drive, why not blenders?"
"I can already write with my hands, why not my pancreas?"
"They already have beef that I can eat, why not granite?"

-- my new favorite quote from Slashdot comments.

OK, first thing is first...Being a wrestling fan without constant access to cable television is a pain in the rear!

As to how much wrestling we get here....WITH cable, you would get just Raw/SD/Velocity/Confidential/Heat. Milwaukee does not get NWA-TNA, as far as I know. However, if you do not have cable (such as I), I only get Smackdown and the syndicated shows. I know we once had NWA Wildside out of Georgia up here, but I think the station carrying it cut it for some reason. I say "Keep it on!" They had it on at 3am anyways!

I just get all the WWE shows and NWA TNA. Used to get USWA until it ran out of business. I loved that promotion, for some reason or another. I used to get WCW too, of course. Never got ECW until it was on TNN, which is sad because the DVD's they've been releasing really makes me realize what I missed out on. I'll probably invest in satellite sooner or later, just so I can get EMLL. I've heard nothing but good things about that promotion.

For some reason, my local public access station shows the same Brian James/Brian Lawler match that was taped at least 6 months ago. I swear, it's always on. I could call each spot, if there were any. Lots of dancing and mic work, no real match to speak of.

From the desk of Swordsman Yen
The only free wrestling programming I get is whatever is on TNN, UPN, and whatever makes it from the local independents on the public access channel here. As for actual mat wrestling, there's probably more wrestling going on in Liza Minelli and her gay husband's bedroom than what the WWE offers.

Jonathan Coachman is gawd awful (can't believe no one has nominated in the worst commentator yet). I have no clue what his act is, but whatever it is I'm not getting it. Stop trying to be so hip and try calling a decent match.
