We got married on a Thursday, because that's when they do weddings at the Champaign courthouse. Had we known they did wedding on St. Valentine's day, we would have gotten married on a Monday instead.
Now, however, we can pretend we hate Valentine's day like all the cool kids and it makes our anniversary much easier to remember because it the same number as our area code (2/17).

In August it will be 10 years with the wife. Ups and downs and three amazing kids later, I'd do it all over again and again and again.
Amazing how much change I've gone through in 10 years with her, let alone the years since this original One Question.

| #49 Posted on 12.3.13 0349.59 | Instant Rating: 8.95 | Married for 19 years this October 8th. Been together for 24 years.
In that time we had four kids, one cat, one dog, countless fish, 4 frogs, one rabbit, one bearded dragon and one hamster. Only the dog remains.
The frogs, hamster and fish all died of natural causes. The bearded dragon, which I loved, died during the storm when we lost power for 7 days. I did not have a generator and could not keep him warm enough. We tried to keep him alive but he died a few days after we got the power back.
The rabbit was a horrible idea and went back to the previous owner. They make awful pets. Nice animal, just not a good pet.
And then there was the cat. God I hated that cat. When we first got married, a mouth in my wife said she wanted a baby or a cat. Seeing as I never had a cat and I did not want a baby yet, the decision was easy. Go with the cat. It was the wrong decision. Should have had the kid. The cat hated everyone but my wife. It was a horrible pet. It hated the kids and we kept them away from her all the time. We had to put her down due to old age and illness. Needless to say, the kids and I did not shed a tear. I know many people who have great cats for pets, but this cat turned me off to cats so much I will never get another and neither will my kids.
Like I said, should have a had a kid.
Regardless, it has been a great 18+ years.
Life is hilariously cruel.

I'm curious about this as well, as everyone I know who lives in CT really enjoys it.
We'll be married two years in May. Two months after our wedding, we picked up and moved from CA (where we both were born, raised and had always lived) and moved to Queens, NY (which is a nice way of concluding this thread (The W) that I'm sure was keeping people up a night). BTW - I'm really glad we ended up in Queens instead of Williamsburg. I wasn't so thrilled with Forest Hills when we first moved here, but it's really starting to grow on me.
NY is awesome. Just awesome. I should have moved here YEARS ago (but I'm glad I didn't because I really love my wife.)

Why? Just curious.
It's almost as expensive as Long Island, most of her family's there and I don't really have a lot of ties in Connecticut. The only thing keeping me here, really, is that I have a job (which barely pays the bills at this point). I'm working to get transferred to their big company-wide thing in Manhattan, though, at which point I could just take the train.

Couple of grown kids, no current pets. We have sworn off pets at this point, but we mostly had cats, the last two were the end.

Man, that doesn't read correctly! Sounds like all the pets and kids are gone.

UPDATE: Still married! 9 years long, 9 years strong. It'll be 10 years in November.
Since my last post in 2007, we've had 2 girls, 4 years and 1 year, and our cat Big Sam died (Girls = alive and well, cat = dead). Our other cat, Grace-Face, probably doesnt have much time left either. My wife is already promising our 4-year old a guinnea pig once Grace-Face dies, but I'd prefer a break from pets for awhile. Pretty sure I'm already out-voted on that one, as usual.

I just re-read it and yes, it does seem like the kids are gone! Thankfully, it is just my awful writing skills. The kids, 14, 13, 9 and 8 are fine. The dog is the only one of the pets that remains.
The 13 year old, my only daughter, is just finishing middle school and will be a freshman in HS in September 2013. It is scary to think she will be in college sooner than I thought.
My 14 year old son is autistic. No college for him, but we have had a mountain of bills for therapists and social groups. So in reality, the college bill for my daughter will just get thrown onto the pile of existing bills.
As for the 8 and 9 year old, I am already preaching the benefits of joining the military right out of HS!
