With the subject about the best wrestler ever being discussed in another thread, how about tag teams? I think the answers could be much more varied than the greatest wrestler.

I would have a hard time choosing amongst the following 5.

1. Road Warriors
2. Midnight Express
3. Rock & Roll Express
4. Hart Foundation
5. British Bulldogs

I would also add the Fabulous Freebirds if they could be classified as a tag team (there was 3 of them but, any 2 of the 3 could defend the titles at any time)

If forced to choose one, I would probably take the Midnight Express because of their many inventive double team moves and the fact that Jim Cornette was an added bonus as a mouthpiece for the team.

My personal favorite would be the Hart Foundation. The most successful, title-wise (of those 5) would be the Road Warriors. As for the best ever though...I'll go with either The Bulldogs or Tully and Arn. If forced at gunpoint to choose only one, I'd go with the Bulldogs.

Midnight Express. Most entertaining Tag team of all time. Made EVERYBODY look good, and held the world titles on numerous occasions. Also involved in the best tag team fued of all time vs the Rock N Roll Express.

While all five on your list were all great teams, I have to pick the British Bulldogs. Like the Hart Foundation, they had the smaller, technical master and the big power guy, and I loved how those two conflicting styles worked so well together. What made them far better than the Hart Foundation, though, was the comparison between the power guys. Hart and Dynamite Kid were about equal as tag team wrestlers, but Smith just blew Neidhart away in terms of ability and "the look".

I'll mention another great team that wasn't on your list: the Rockers. While its true that they never officially held a major tag title together, they were still a lot of fun to watch. Innovative moves, variety (with a different finisher for almost every single win), and worlds of ability. Yes, I know, Michaels had all the charisma of the two, and he had the better workrate, but Jannetty was still VERY good in the ring and wasn't exactly carried by his partner.

In the words of the Honorable James E. Cornette, "Twins sons from different mothers, Beautiful Bobby, Sweet Stan... The Midnight Express!"
As brilliant as their tandem offense could be it was the little things - the way they cut off tags, the way they incorporated Cornette's distractions, the frequency of their switching. They were just amazing to watch.

I'll say Edge and Christian. Granted, a lot of the old school names mentioned are good, but I gotta stick to my guns here. I mean, TLC matches, great heat, and they also smoothed out Angle into the heel he is today. Watching these guys was fun.

Now that I think about it a little more, there's another team that I should have added to the teams on my list. The Steiner Brothers were great in their prime, back when Scott Steiner was still mobile and doing things that hadn't been done before in the U.S.

The AWA Tag Title was still considered major when they beat Rose and Somers for the belts.
For another team that hasn't been mentioned yet, Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

While I won't submit a list, two points:

1. I'm stunned that anyone would include the Rock'n'Roll Express among the Top 5 all-time. Are you serious? At the PEAK of their "abilities", they were a joke.

2. In the same vein, I'm equally stunned that the Steiner Brothers are consistently left OFF those Top 5 lists. For a 3-year window way back when, they were the best EVER.

AI consider it a tie:

MIdnight Express and The Steiner Brothers.

The R and R Express was entertaining, but only for the selling abilities of Ricky Morton.
British Bulldogs were awesome...when they were healthy, which wasn't often.
Demolition had great heat, but their matches were nothing special.
Road Warriors, if I was making this list when I was ten, then sure.
I can't seriosuly consider E&C or Hardyz, because they only seem to have great matches when they are against each other and ladders are involved.

Oh flaming box of stuff, is there no problem you can't solve?

Sorry, just your opinion.

No matter what you say about em, they were loved by the fans, and had great runs agains, the ME, Without the R&R the Midnight Express are nowhere near the team they were, and thats what really matters.

I think you got the equation backwards, and I'll tell you why:

The Midnight Express had big-time memorable feuds against the Road Warriors, Arn & Tully, the Fantastiks, Samoan Swat Team, the Steiners .... They played heels. They played faces. And they elevated whoever they had a program with, because they were friggin' GREAT.

Name one other memorable feud the R&R had. You can't, because there aren't any.

The fans may have loved them, but R&R were a one-trick pony. (Or should I say "nag"?)

The Rock & Roll Express also had good feuds and matches against the following teams:

- Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson
- Ole & Arn Anderson
- Ivan & Nikita Koloff
- Rick Rude & "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez

I never saw it but, I've heard they had a great series of matches against Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo in Mid South before they moved on to the NWA.

Look, it's just my opinion. I happen to think they were a great tag team. If you don't, fine. That's your opinion.

By the way, you mentioned in your first post that the Steiners were being neglected. Look about 2 posts above your first one and you will see that I posted that I should have included the Steiner Bros. They just slipped my mind when I did the original post.

Speaking of HBK, and please forgive my empty brain, but did HBK and Kurt Angle ever match up? It struck me that it would be such a great personality conflict, yet I can't summon any memories of it happening.
