Happened Sunday afternoon in Oakland (via PW Insider)

Epico and Primo defeated Air Boom to win the WWE Tag Team titles in Oakland, CA this afternoon.

It's not terribly surprising, given how much focus has been taken off the team. Oh, and it probably doesn't help that Triple H may not like Bourne very much after his suspension.

What gets me more is...how little must they think of Epico and Primo to not even give them a televised title change? It's not like there haven't been opportunities.

Or this is one of their irregular reminders that house shows are worth attending because title changes can happen at house shows. Anything can happen in WWE!

I went to a TNA house show and minus meeting Gail Kim nothing happened last night. I remember a few months ago, there was this big talk about the tag team division being a big focus and today we are here. I guess if I were Kofi I would consider a singles push in my future or call AJ styles and get a more accomplished partner. No need to change the name either.

Unless TNA goes out of business, there's no way AJ Styles ever will, or even should, leave the company.

I wonder if Epico y Primo will lose the tag titles back to Air Boom, gain them back, lose them again, in the style of the Booker/Benoit/Booker/Benoit/Booker WCW TV Title changes back in the day.

If I recall correctly... didn't Kofi and CM Punk win the tag titles on a house show?

EDIT: I was close. They won the title on RAW but lost them to Miz and Morrison on a house show, starting their 113-day title reign. Also, good God, Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes were champions for over 200 days? That must have been terrible to watch. (With all due respect to the great wrestler Cody has since become, and no respect intended whatsoever towards Bob Holly.)

It wasn't really terrible to watch because they made it onto TV for about ten of those 200 days. I think they were more invisible in their reign than McTunga were earlier this year.

I hope they let it stand. I'm pretty sure both Bret and Diesel had WWE title wins on house shows, and the Quebecers IIRC sometime around '94 or '95. So it's been a long time since they did a house show title change that wasn't somehow nullified (although I'm quite sure I forgetting a more recent one). Eke? You're our resident title expert...

Christian won the IC Title from Booker T at a house show in 2003 and the European title from Bradshaw at one as well. Are we going to count the numerous Hardcore title changes from the 24/7 rules era?

Christian actually won the Euro title from Bradshaw at a SmackDown taping, but it was cut from the show due to time constraints(!). Edge also won his first Intercontinental title from Jeff Jarrett at a house show in July '99, but lost it back at Fully Loaded the followng night.

If this gives us Epico/Primo vs the Usos, I'm all in. The tag titles can become a team cruiserweight belt.

I am glad to see that Primo hasn't been forgotten by WWE. He hasn't been getting much airtime on ZTLIS as of late.

Glad to see something happen at a house show... Primo works his butt off at house shows, glad to see him get a title, and at least a little bit of recognition.

That's the last one I remember, but I was also in attendance for that. I remember the stunned crowd all looking like the universal thought was "Wait...what just happened?"

I was there, too. As a grizzled wrestling fan, I refused to get too excited for that Christian win - figured that surely it would get overturned or something. Another instance of when being a "smark", or whatever, hurt my ability to just enjoy 'rasslin.

I believe the reason behind that switch was due to a Booker T injury. Again, the "smark" in me has to think that something is up with Bourne. I'm probably wrong again though.

Speaking of house show title changes, Chumpstain saw one in Winnipeg and told us all about it (The 7).

Didnt one of the usual suspects say they were being pushed as a way to showcase rosa?

Sadly, I didn't reemmber that title change when thinking about previous house show switches. You'd think I would, since I was there!

Also sadly, seven years later, there still hasn't been any TV here since the two night back-to-back Raw and Smackdown tapings to close out the old Winnipeg Arena, that featured among other things Musical Chairs.

I don't think two people have benefited more from the Sin Cara injury than Rosa and Camacho. It's funny the way these things work out.

Though they weren't house shows, I've been present for three major title changes.

On November 8, 1999, I was in the building for Monday Nitro when Scott Hall won the WCW United States Heavyweight Title in a ladder match also involving Bret Hart, Goldberg and Sid Vicious. In fact I could swear that after his match, as I was holding up the Wolfpac sign, he looked at me and gave me a shrug as if to say, "Hey, I can't help being this good." TOTAL MARK-OUT MOMENT FOR ME.

(That was also the Nitro in which Dustin Rhodes' infamous Seven gimmick was debuted and immediately disavowed by Rhodes.)

I was in attendance for the October 8, 2001 edition of RAW in which two title changes took place: The Hardy Boyz defeated Booker T and Test to win the "WCW" World Tag Team Title. Lita helped them cheat to win, and I could swear we saw the exact same match a month later when she also helped The Hardyz defeat Booker and Test for the WWF Tag Team Title.

And-- most memorably-- later that night Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Kurt Angle to win the WWF Championship for the sixth and final time, when WWF Commissioner William Regal turned heel and intervened on Austin's behalf.

(I haven't ever gone to any house shows, however.)

I'm not sure if I see the difference. The Dudley Boyz name dates to before they came to the WWE, yet WWE still owns it. Rob Van Dam is not his real name, and WWE owns several tradmarks for it.
