Okay, so I'm one of those idiots who liked Underdog. I'm also one of the idiots who went to see The Smurfs before Cowboys And Aliens. I paid to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua, damnit! I like talking animals. It's a sad thing to admit, I know, but it is what it is. I even saw the Garfield sequel...the SEQUEL!
Anyway, what I'm getting at is that I'll probably be in line the day this comes out with a big ass smile on my face.
After his work in the Shrek films and even back as the dragon in Mulan, Eddie Murphy seems like a perfectly acceptable replacement for Scatman Crothers. I am happy for this.

But having said that, though, Eddie Murphy is actually a reason for optimism. His animated pedigree is a lot better than his "movies that require a fat suit" pedigree.

Didn't he drive a little buggy that looked like a Chinese temple?
I do remember liking the gimmick of the cat quietly doing all the work, while an oblivious Hong Kong Phooey took all the credit. Pretty cool theme song as well.

How dare you, sir.
Hong Kong Phooey is one of the original classically trained martial arts animals. That & the 80's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Nah, that would be Karate Dog. Featuring Chevy Chase as the voice of Karate Dog. |
