| #1 Posted on 2.8.02 1052.23 | There is obviously something different about Rock compared to other main eventers. He's willing to put others over cleanly, he sells like a pro (over the top sometimes, perhaps) and as far as I know he has a good reputation backstage.
After watching Smackdown last night and seeing him tap to the crossface I came to realise why Rock is so great. He treats the his role within the company as an *actor*. He is pleased if his bump looked good, like his man-sized bump to the railing last night. He is pleased if he makes his opponent look strong and he knows exactly how to show the proper emotion.
They should send Criple H to Hollywood :)| Promote this thread! | | ThreepMe

To my knowledge, Rocky has always been willing to pull the J.O.B. for just aboot anyone WWE has asked him to.
The man sells like he's on a commission. It's almost like Curt Henning and Ric Flair locked Rocky in a room and taught him how to sell.
I would like to congatulate Al Snow on his contact with La-Z-Boy. Because we all know Al doesn't sell chairs. - Mick Foley

| #3 Posted on 2.8.02 1425.09 | Could Rock's willingness to put others over have something to do with the fact that he doesn't have all his eggs in one basket, so to speak? His entire career and identity is not wrapped up in his wrestling persona--he has other avenues and opportunities, such as acting.
Tripsy may be trying to get some of the same kind of opportunities, but he doesn't have them yet...and could turn out to be the kind of actor who tries to upstage everyone else anyway. ;-) Maybe it's got to do with how invested each guy is in wrestling, or maybe it's more to do with how invested each guy is in his fantasy persona. If you "eat, sleep, and breathe wrestling" the way Game Boy claims to do, I'd imagine you can quickly lose perspective on the big picture. I'm not sure I like saying that Rocky seems like a well-rounded, sensible guy IRL ;-) but that's how it's coming across to me at the moment.

| #4 Posted on 2.8.02 1503.15 | Anyone remember when Rock jobbed to Bossman in a number one contenders match? Boy, that one was awesome. Someone interfered, but in the end Rock STILL layed down for the Bossman slam. I remembered being so pissed at the time.
Another thing, is if we DO see Rock vs. Benoit next week and Rock wins, to see how many people change their tune.
Respect the opinions of others. Unless they're unoriginal, uninventive morons with no class who use racial slurs and homosexual hate-language for insults. Then break the bastard down. It's 2002 ya'll. There's other races and gays a plenty out there in the real world. Get used to it. | Jakegnosis

HHH is one of the worst actors ever. He does a halfway decent "I'm pissed and now I'm gonna kick your ass" promo, but that's it. I doubt he could even approach the greatness that was Goldberg in Universal Soldier 2. I'd be surprised if he could even get to the B-action movie Dolph Lundgren level.
As for Rocky, he is great at (over)selling. I love the Rock's "oh, the pain, THE PAIN!" face. He's like a cartoon. It's great.
Moo hoo ha ha.

Haha!! That's perfect, he is like a cartoon character!
However, I can't agree that he wouldn't be able to out do Goldberg. Atleast Criple H has a decent voice that fits him, can't say the same for Goldberg. |
