I dunno... I'm thinking it might be Mick Foley coming back for another hour in the sun as Cactus Jack. Who else would Stone Cold call the craziest SOB he knows??

Two hours later they decided to stop at a diner
Because they loved the smell of eggs and coffee
I just had to smoke a cigarette and wear a hat
By the time that they set off again, the sun was starting to set
It made the sky look red like a nuclear ray
One of them said "what do you want more than anything
in this whole wide world
Do you want money, do you want sex, or do you want all that success?"
I thought about that one myself
(Then they came upon the thing)

Did you hear the crowd chanting Foley's name when Austin was done with the promo? If the WWE can't figure that out, I don't know what they are thinking.

Good points guys, but I was thinking specifically of the fact that Stone Cold regularly called Mick Foley (as Cactus Jack) the craziest SOB he knew. Also, who would want to ref this match more? Especially since he owes HHH several screwjobs/beatdowns/general bad things.

The following post expresses the opinions of a raving Jerichoholic. He is biased, opinionated and bitter. You have been warned.

As soon as Austin said he needed to make a phone call, I thought it would be Terry Funk. But I also think that Mick Foley would get a bigger reaction. Isn't Fooley still giving a solid "no" to Vince and Co. until things get better?

This counts as better?

The coyote goes... Eh, Funk as ref in the HIAC match? Funk would fit, but even the WWE knows that there is absolutely no history for it, sorta like when Kevin Sullivan showed up for one night to ref a match between Raven and Sandman in TNA. Oh, you didn't hear about that?

Foley would be perfect. I miss the hell out of Mick Foley, and so long as he isn't getting hurt in vicious matches, I'll be satisfied. Not that he didn't entertain me when he was killing himself, but he HAS retired.

By that token, using WWE logic, the ref will either be Austin, Bischoff, or Al Snow.

Foley's got his novel, "Tietam Brown", coming out soon so maybe he agreed to do a one shot deal so he can plug it.

I hope it's Mick Foley. I can imagine the air getting sucked out of the arena if Terry Funk walks out. The fans obviously want and expect Foley.

Austin is picking himself? And with a gimmick change! Williams 3:16 will sweep the nation!

Seriously, Dr. Death would be just about the biggest letdown possible. Best case scenario: Foley. Middle case scenario: Terry Funk.

I bet it's a face but then Austin's plan "backfires" and the face ref helps HHH win.

I wonder if they had it planned all along that Foley (or whoever it is) would be the referee for the HITC match, or did they just suddenly add him to the PPV to bolster up interest for the match due to the weak fan response to the Nash/HHH feud ?

If that were the case, they'd have added Foley to every feud since April, 2002.

I'm guessing the current plan is for WWE to throw Foley in as the ref. Then again, the plan was to have Bobby Heenan show up at Raw X, but he didn't show up because nobody called him until the last minute. They just ASSUMED he'd show up.

The point I'm trying to make is, how much does anybody want to bet that the WWE brass hasn't even contacted Mick Foley to be the ref yet?

Ok, so maybe all the other guys haven't worked, but will THIS be the man to save WWE???

Um...probably not.

As I stated in my comment in the Raw thread, i think it may be Tim White, the ref thats been out for a year after getting injured in HHH v Jericho HITC.

So I pranked him...to death.....with a tire iron!

Technically, White's still the senior official on the SmackDown! side.

I heard somebody say Bradshaw but I think he was joking. Wait, scratch "think" and put in "hope" instead.

I definitely thought it would be Foley too... but I seriously can't imagine he'd make his big return for THIS? Why on earth would he agree to be a backdrop to Kevin Nash and Triple H? Does Mick need a wedding invitation THAT BADLY?

If Austin's talking crazy -- only a few people fit the bill, I think. The afforementioned Foley and Funk... uh, George The Animal Steele... Norman the Lunatic... Steven Richards.....

I say the good money is on Terry Funk.
