Have there been any world champs of Hispanic descent other than Eddie? I'm sure there have been, but for the life of us, the guys at my house last night couldn't think of any. We figured there were some back in the day.

Consulting my WWF, WCW and ECW title histories here...
Yeah, Pedro Morales held the WWWF Title from 2/8/71 to 12/1/73. And during part of his reign, Morales wasn't even considered to be a world champion, because the belt was reduced to a regional title when the WWWF joined the NWA temporarily.
Tito Santana defeated Don Muraco on 8/8/93 to win the ECW World Title, so there's that.
Other than that, I think the closest we've come was probably shortly after Rey Mysterio Jr. lost his mask in WCW. He started getting a major push, beating bigger guys like Kevin Nash and Bam Bam Bigelow. He won a drawing to earn a shot at the WCW World Title on Nitro, and got a 2.99999999999999 count on World Champion Ric Flair when Arn Anderson pulled the referee out of the ring.

Yes, Pedro Morales is the only one that was recognized. Carlos Colon also beat Flair for the strap in Puerto Rico in 1983, but it wasn't officially recognized as an NWA title win. Kind of the same situation with Race beating Flair in New Zealand (i believe in '83, also), with Flair taking it back in Singapore the next night (or vice versa).

I seem to remember last week Michael Cole and/or Tazz making mention of Eddie having the chance to be the first Mexican world champion (kinda ironic, though, since Eddie is, of course, from Texas). Morales is the only one of Latino descent I can think of from WWF/E, none from NWA/WCW.
Come to think of it, how many Sicilian champs have there been? Don't count Italian champs as I've been told by every Sicilian I know that the two are NOT the same!
Two hours later they decided to stop at a diner Because they loved the smell of eggs and coffee I just had to smoke a cigarette and wear a hat By the time that they set off again, the sun was starting to set It made the sky look red like a nuclear ray One of them said "what do you want more than anything in this whole wide world Do you want money, do you want sex, or do you want all that success?" I thought about that one myself (Then they came upon the thing)

No, he doesn't speak with an accent in real life. I don't think he drives a new low rider in every town he visits either. The accent is part of his character. Why would a guy wait until he hits the pinnacle of his career to scrap what he's been doing for the previous four years and start fresh?
I'm Mexican, and I love Eddie Guerrero's character. yeah it can be racist sometimes, but seriously, he's still makin a good name for us. it's not like he's an ass or anything. plus, people wouldn't like him as much as a champion. you should just kick back and let Eddie what he does best.
I thought it was all a master plot so that Fit Finley's warm and nurturing side could shine through as he cares to the fallen combatant. I love how Finlay went Brian Urlacher on Hardcore a couple of weeks back. That wasn't so "nurturing"...
