Did anyone else check out the match with Maven? It was a pretty good match. Two things amazed me. 1. How much offense HHH sold for Maven. 2. How long the match was. It started at :39 after the hour, but did have a commercial break in the middle of it.

Maven still seems a bit...off. I think that it is his speed that is still not where it needs to be. He has gotten the basics down very well, but his speed is still not there yet.

The crowd got behind Maven, but nowhere close to the HHH-Taka match. HHH didn't really work like a heel. He did kind of show up Maven in the beginning of the match and taunted Maven, but Maven was the only one that gave HHH a belt shot towards the end of the match. The match ended with kick-Pedigree and then HHH got a legit pop afterwards.

I wonder will this match be even acknowledged on Raw tomorrow?

I don't think HHH didn't work like a heel cuz he was supposed to be an unbeatable champ fighting a newcomer. He didn't need to cheat.
I was very surprised when the match started at 7:42, just as you were.

Is anyone else noticing that HEAT is turning into a WWE superstar VS unknown jobber show? I mean, WWE guys don't even face each other anymore. What's up with this? It all started with the White Boy Challenge. At least that's how I remember it.

I don't think the match is going to be recognized, they were just trying to get people to watch HEAT.

It was a tremendous match with HHH giving more to Maven than he usually does to Van Dam. Call me an apologist, but HHH is impressing me more and more. Maven also gave a perfect interview before the match, with just the right amount of respect and fire.

And while I love the Canadian crowds usually, it really hurt that they didn't get behind Maven. Even after a belt shot that surprised me, they didn't seem to be able to suspend disbelief to think Maven might pull off the upset.

Props also to Al Snow for playing his role correctly. He tried to stay objective, but then slowly let his delight in Maven's abilities shine through. Towards the end, he really made me believe that he thought Maven might be able to steal the match.

Leave it to HHH to save Heat tonight.

Molly, Stacy and Daffney all in WWE? I suddenly lost all my will to complain about anything regarding the WWE. Hope I don't lose my street cred for this.

TS, the greatest Wiener rated 6.4948 ever to live!! Oops, I mean 5.5...4.5?? Oh, dammit! I guess Notorious FAB was right.

Sure they'll talk about it on Raw. Maven & Orton (with Foley & Flair respectively) had a perfectly fun match about 3 weeks ago on Raw. They advertised it on last week's Raw. They gave HHH & Maven a lot of air time on Heat, both in the actual match & with the promos. It was fun, Maven did well, & I think they're going somewhere with this.

Y'know, we haven't discussed Maven as a candidate for Evolution yet. (Yeah, yeah, I know, must be an enforcer. Still...) He'd look good in high-end business casual attire.

Maven looks a ton better, don't get me wrong but as mentioned before I think he is way too slow. I mean Big Show takes less time between moves. Sadly, I think Maven's defining and only shining moment took place at the Rumble two years ago.

As for the crowd and the heat, I laughed out loud at one point because I thought it was very very obvious that the crowd reactions were all canned. Just like on Smackdown, I think it's pretty obvious.

Hey, that remindes me of the 90's syndicated show of Superstars and Wrestling challenge. They always had no name jobbers vs Superstars. EG: The Steiner Brothers vs Jummping Jim Brunzel and the Itialian Stallion.

Continuity needs to reign supreme here. Not only should they acknowledge the match tomorrow on Raw, but Maven should also challenge for a rematch later in the night. Another match like tonight's (in which Triple H actually makes his opponent look GOOD) can only make Maven look good and like he actually belongs in the ring with the champ.

Like I said in another thread, Heat's ratings will be VERY interesting to see. If the ratings tank (even by Heat's low standards), that'll say a lot about Hunter's alleged drawing power.

I actually liked last night's HHH-Maven match. Long but decent. The promo HHH cut on Maven earlier on Heat was also decent.

Speaking of Heat, Steven Richards' commentary during the La Resistance squash was hilarious as was his actions after their match.

The biggest draw back from that match was that the fans never really bought into it. They never really bit. It was good, I still think Maven had a better match with Orton (of all people) a few weeks ago on Raw.

Rest of Heat was Brutal especially

-Steiner vs. Ruffy Silverstein- Ruffy had one of the greatest messed up moves in history. Ruffy was at the corner facing the turnbuckle, Steiner charges (well kind of walked over) and Ruffy then tried to lift up and vault over Steiner (best example I could use is around the end of Trish/Molly on Raw, Trish was at the corner jumped up Molly caught her and hit the shoulderbreaker). But good old Ruffy jumped up and tipped over the top ropes landing on the floor without Steiner even touching him. I thought Steiner was going to go all insane on him after but he didn't... The fans only cared about Stacy, don't blame them.

-La Resistance vs. Bobby Rude/Tyson Dux- Bobby Rude is on Velocity and Heat. Inter-promotioan Jobber extraordinaire. Stevie was all messed up during commentary, calling it a tag title match just seconds after Fink says it's a non-title match AND even better after La Resistance did a heel promo saying how they are Real French from France and not French-Canadian which is just as bad as Americans, just minutes after saying that during the match they talk about the fans and Stevie said "They should support these guys, they are Fellow French-Canadians" LoL... But to be fair the in ring work by the two teams actually it was a pretty decent match

The last 2 weeks they were having a lot of jobber matches, Like 3 of them with one main event. Before that they usually had 4 matches with one of them being with a jobber... Even more concerning then all the jobber matches now on Heat is that they are doing backstage interviews and they are using Terri instead of Lilian, major Booos to that.

Big props to Al Snow for his reaction when Maven clocked HHH with the belt. Under normal circumstances, the face teacher would have expressed disappointment but stated that he was doing what he had to do to make it to the top. In Al Snow's case, his immediate reaction was "Did the ref see it? Did the ref see it? The ref didn't see it!" as if he was proud of Maven for being smart enough to cheat without getting caught.

How could they? He beat HBK, he beat Nash, he beat Booker, he beat RVD, he beat Kane, now we're suddenly supposed to believe *Maven* has a shot?

I dont wanna sound like a HHHater here (really I dont), but the first thing that popped in my head when I saw Maven's promo (I tuned in late) was "MAVEN? Year right".

The fans were never going to buy into that match. I mean, first Maven is going to beat HHH, then he is going to do it on Heat? Come on. Nothing happens on Heat.

There was some cheering for Maven towards the end, but it may have been canned. But it was a good match.

Hunter was so sly in his promos last night, I loved them. The match started off slow, but it picked up real well. I agree that HHH and Maven carried Heat (like there was much to carry with no women's matches). Not just in the match, but in the promos leading up to it. That's old school WWF title match booking at it's best. I did tape that match, by the way, not the whole show because it kinda stunk. Hunter's little promo to Maven was excellent. I swear, I know that I'm obssesed with the guy, but even you have to admit, that he's great at these simple, cocky, classic heel promos. Big ups to HHH and Maven.

Well for all the heat that Triple H has gotten he sure has put on two great matches in a row. Against both RVD and Maven he made them look really good. Let's hope this streak continues. I don't mind him winning a lot if he's putting on good matches in the process.

Are they moving towards having mostly jobber matches, now? Maybe they feel like they're giving away too many "marquee" matches for free.

If Heat would put on one match like the HHH/Maven one every week, i'd be there. If they would just rotate the big stars on it like Booker, Y2J, HHH, and Goldberg I think people would watch. They wouldn't need to do too much storyline advancement, just give us a nice, decent legnth match with a top guy.

I wouldn't say this match made Maven look good. I mean, when a worker throws his entire offense at HHH (including a belt shot) and still ends up losing, no matter how well HHH sold for him, it makes the guy doing the offense look bad, because the offense did nothing to bring Maven to victory.

I don't know about doing Maven/HHH again on RAW, though. They did that before WrestleMania and we'd only end up seeing the same match, because RAW has more time constraints. Plus, we already know the result. The only place where Maven and HHH could have a match like that would be on Heat or PPV.

emma, I actually thought there was a decent chance for Maven to be the 4th member of Evolution on Raw a few weeks ago. Evolution claimed they were going to select a 4th member before Raw was over. Then, they beat down Mick Foley in the ring and Maven & Al Snow made the save. Then, Maven came into the room with Foley and Snow all excited about getting a match with Orton. When Foley announced he would be in Maven's corner, I thought they might be leading to Maven turning on Foley during the match and helping Orton and Flair beat down Foley in the ring.

But, the "choosing another member of Evolution" storyline turned out to be just a set up for the "Kane unmasks" storyline.

I thought the match was decent enough for Heat. I wasn't expecting anything special, but it was watchable. Maven's offense is a bit poor, but other than that, I wouldn't object if he got a push up the card. Keep him away from Evolution though, and Flair, Hunter and Orton can remain a threesome (so to speak).

My question is, will they build another stable to go against Evolution?
