So Chris Benoit is defending the World Title next Monday against Shawn Michaels. HHH is not going to be involved in a title match for the first time in a long time. When was the last time that happened? I can remember one was when Shawn Michaels defended against RVD on RAW after Shawn won the title in the Elimination Chamber back in 2002. Even then, HHH factored into the finish that match. And didn't Goldberg and Kane have a match on RAW at one point when Goldberg was champion? And didn't HHH and/or Evolution factor into the finish of that match as well? My point being, almost 3 years into the introduction of the Raw World Title, this is only the 3rd championship match that I can think of that HHH hasn't been involved in as champion or challenger. And, based on past experiences of this sort, it doesn't look good for this Monday's match to end with a clean finish.
Goldberg's reign had litle or no HHH runs mainly due to HHH doing Blade 3. Instead HHH inserted himself via video promos, so the fans can never forget who the champion really is. If they really wanted to get Benoit over as a legitimate champion, they need to move HHH out of the main event scene. Even during Goldberg's three month reign, all the main events involved HHH and it did feel like Goldberg was a place holder champion rather than a real champion. Benoit's push has been good, so far, but it still suffers from HHH is right there waiting to take it back. They really need to get HHH away from Chris and the main event. Raw has been good with Chris, Edge, Shawn. Flair and Batista main eventing and HHH on the outside. HHH needs to go shoot that movie of his and stay away from a while.
Goldberg defended the World title against Chris Jericho on September 22, 2003 - the night after he won it from HHH. He also defended the belt against Mark Henry on October 6 and Shawn Michaels on October 20.
Of course, that's a moot point because Chris Benoit has already defended the belt against Rhyno on the Draft RAW on March 22.

Now, I've heard this rumored for awhile, mostly due to OO, but when is HHH supposed to be going off to do his movie, and how long is he supposed to be absent??

He's not doing anything noteworthy right now, so perhaps in the next few weeks he is written off in an injury angle of some sort. Last night on RAW I kinda wished Tajiri would bust out some of the SEMI-PERMANENTLY BLINDING BLACK MIST OF DOOM during the match and put HHH out of commission. But that, of course, was a pipe dream and nothing more.
Marco: But we can chew nails and shoot 'em out as bullets, right? Sparks: Nails, chains -- you won't have titanium teeth for nothing. Murphy: Nails are like candy to robots! And we'll eat tires instead of licorice. Debbie: GAH! No we won't!! Murphy: Maybe YOU won't.
Bad Blood 2003- Beat Nash (Hell In A Cell) Unforgiven 2003- Lost to Goldberg (for the belt) Armageddon 2003- Beat Kane and Goldberg (for the title) Backlash 2004- Lost to Benoit for the title (Triple threat and it was Shawn that tapped out, so technically he wasn't a winner or a loser)
I think he'll be away for Bad Blood this year, leaving Benoit-HBK free possibly.
Maybe that's what I had in mind when thinking of all the HHH World Title matches. Rather than EVERY World Title defense having HHH in them, it's been every PPV title defense since the split that has had HHH in them. Is that not an accurate statement? We've established that HHH has headlined every RAW exclusive PPV, but what about the joint PPVs before they were seperated from each other and all the "Big 5" PPVs? Is there a PPV listing on a website somewhere that lists the PPVs and the main events for those PPVs?

The last time there was a PPV that he could have had a title match but didn't was Summerslam 2002 where he was in the street fight with Shawn Michaels. See here for PPV details. Since then he has always either defended the title, challenged for the title, or one occasion there was no title match.

... Goldberg was champion? (checks archives) Hey, how 'bout that? I'd conpletely forgotten that bit of agony.
HHH: You two had better stop your ambiguiously gay excersions before I kick you happy asses out of Evolution, damn it! (H yelling at Ric & Randy from 'God Knows', http://www.fanfiction.net/.) ~~*~~*~~ Be good, Vince. Don't be dumb.
Cult of Kaitlyn as well obviously. My personal non Pro's Poll has it at: Kaitlyn AJ Ak...aw fuck it, it's exactly the same as Orq's. Exept I might put Nadine slightly above Maxine, or not.
