When I heard "HHH Appreciation Night", I immediately thought to myself:

1. Are we going to follow the bouncing HHH head?
2. Do we get to hear Justin Credible sing again?
3. Can Steiner even drive a milk truck?
4. This didn't work with Austin, a guy everybody liked. How can this possibly work for the NecropHHHiliac?

Despite early criticisms, I liked the showdown between Steiner and Triple H, which set up the Royal Rumble main event nicely. And I guess this match needs a special title...

WHEN 'ROIDED FREAKS COLLIDE!!!

I know I'LL laugh if I hear these two start telling each other they have no balls.

Actually, I think Steiner did at one point call Triple H “The Game with no balls.” Only balls got bleeped out for some odd reason. What? He meant balls, as in baseballs, of course! Testicles doesn't get bleeped out! Whassupwidat? [makes a mock-serious expression, a la Hurricane]

While it was a good setup, just imagine this as a VERY real possibilty. Scotty belly-to-belly's HHH or Butterfly powerbombs him, takes his own back out in the process, and drops HHH on his leg taking him out for a while too. That could happen....... but this feud could work if they let Steiner go nuts on Hunter.

You don't get it boy, this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table. And I'm the surgeon.

Hunter, I want to make a strong plea to you. You're about to start a fued with Scott Steiner. Please, Hunter - hold him down. Send him to midcard hell. Bust out every Internet cliche you can think of. This guy *really isn't* in the same league as you, or pretty much the rest of the roster for that matter.

And those were the mic skills everyone's been creaming their jeans over? That was the most incoherent promo this side of Al Wilson. HHH says that Steiner's no longer "the big fish in the small pond", and Steiner says "Unless the whole world's a small pond... My arms is bigger than yours... Freakzilla... Holla if you hear me", or something equally asinine. He sounds like someone portaying a wrestler in a Saturday Night Live sketch.

EDIT: And what the hell was wrong with Austin Appriciation Night, or have we decided that, since the Invasion was ultimately a failure, every single moment of it must've haved worked either?

I hate to say it, but that HHH/Steiner segement entertained me. I don't know what's wrong with me, but it did. I think it might have had something to do with the Bill Simmons' UCR ratings and the impending trainwreck.

Look on the bright side: HHH/Steiner will make Angle/Benoit look that much better...

HHH appreciation night was Hunter at his sleaziest, but this time I don't mind because I'm going to enjoy watching Steiner get buried. The night opens with a video package showing how cool Hunter is, then goes to a promo where HHH buries the Rock, Foley, and Austin, and then heads to Steiner coming out to the last big pop of his career. HHH let Steiner hang himself out there with his awful mic work, and by the Royal Rumble, the crowd will be booing Steiner and cheering Hunter. Steiner will then go the way of DDP, floundering in the lower card until injury ends him for good. Meanwhile, HHH will be headed for a Wrestlemania title match with either Austin or the Rock.

The throw out back while Trip re-injures leg is the only potential positive of this feud. Considering Trip will roll threw the first Warrior University graduate at Rumble, is it only a matter of time before Dingbat is brought in for Trip to redeem his job from Mania XII?

I thought the final segment was great. HHH's tirade about the ocean and the biggest shark was the best he's been on the mic for a while.

And yes, Steiner is an idiot. But he's a very big, scary and insane idiot and I think that's the point.

I'll go with Salami's take on this. There were parts of the segment that dragged on, and got me wondering how boring Steiner's promos were when he isn't talking about "nirvana" and such. But the possibility is there, and all I really ask is that they let Steiner have HHH's number for a couple months. I guess I'm still floating over Kurt Angle, but, this HHH/Steiner business could be great...as a long feud, that is. That's the key. But to be honest, this new pompous HHH is really boring. I also hope that maybe Steiner would bring Hunter's blinding intensity back to the forefront. I don't know, I'm preoccupied with real life, so I'll mull over this some more...

The point is though, that most of us dig Steiner's promos BECAUSE he can't get out one sentence correctly. His interviews are like a train wreck to watch and listen to. I was entertained by Steiner butchering the English language, as he couldn't even say WWE correctly (you know he's doomed now).

You could also tell that the disdainful look on HHH's face was a shoot, brotha. HHH was probably legitimately thinking, "Hell, I may be boring, but you are insane."

The call is from heroism, will you accept the charges?

i disagree with the assertion that triple h's promo "buried" the rock, mick, and steve austin. there is nothing triple h could say in a promo to ruin those guys' careers; he is just doing what heels DO in promos. they say they're better than the face so they get booed! that's how they get "heat." i mean i understand everyone hates triple h now, but that doesn't mean that everytime he does something heelish, he automatically is "burying" the person he's running down.

I actually felt embarrassed for both HHH and Steiner during that promo, it was definately in the "so bad its good" camp.

I know I am in danger of being lynched for this but I honestly thought the HHH-Steiner promo was better than either of Jericho's promos last night.

And while we're on the topic....I've never liked Nowinski's promos that every one here drools over.

I guess I'm stupid too because I loved the final segment. It was electrifying, to me, and the fans were digging it. All Steiner had to say was "AMGONE KICK YERASS!" and everyone - including me - went nuts. I like the angle. I like Steiner.
Plus, I thought it was awesome how Flair was in the background looking shocked at Steiner's disrespect. Flair looked like he would pull his hair out in dismay.

When I heard Triple H appreciation night, I figured Steiner was going to drive a truck to the ring and spray everyone with steroids, but apparently that didn't happen.

I personally thought the appreciation night was a bit too dragged on...

I love the inherent comedy in this sentence. It reminds me of my favorite misplaced modifier: "Last night I cleaned out the trash can with my sister."
