Dawn Marie is supposed to be up in Manchester on Saturday for the selling of tickets to the Smackdown show after Backlash.

As we were watching the show, and noticing that tickets go on sale in Worcester, my buddies and I (being from the Midwest) wondered how the name is pronounced. I always thought the "cest" was silent, and it was pronounced "Wuster". A friend of mine thought that it was "Worchester". What's the correct way to pronounce it?

NOTE: The above post makes no sense. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The correct way is "Wuss-ter". Quite a few towns in my state that have screwed up pronounciations.

Angle called it Worchester once and the crowd flipped out on him. Funny stuff.

The real question for the New Englanders is this: Which event do you go to? Backlash, Raw in Boston, and SD! in Manchester all go on sale this weekend. Do you break the bank on $75 PPV seats, or do you hit one (or both) of the TV tapings to save some coin?

Personally, I'm likely hitting the PPV and Raw, but that's primarily for geographical reasons. (well, and the comp tickets for the PPV)

The following post expresses the opinions of a raving Jerichoholic. He is biased, opinionated and bitter. You have been warned.

Ideally I'd do all three. The PPv and SmackDown! because they'd probably be good shows, and Raw because it would get me out of recapping. But, if I had to pick one, it'd be Backlash.

I wonder is anyone coming down to Houston when Bad Blood tickets go on sale. I would think Booker T should be here for that.

I am planning on going to Backlash, if I can get tickets that is. I'll have to set my alarm clock, so I can get up early enough to get them online. I'll probably skip the TV tapings, just because by the time I get out of work, I'd be late anyway.

Here's hoping it doesn't sell out too fast, as this will be my first live event.

Actually, if you're an old townie or a Boston based frat boy, it's at least as correct to pronounce it "Wista". As in the Letterman chestnut "I'm goin ta Wista, ta buy a toasta, you bastid."

I dunno, I may head to Backlash. Its the furthest event from home (about an 1 1/2+ hour drive as opposed to about 1 hr. to Boston or a whole 25 min. to Manch-Vegas), but its a PPV gosh darnit! I might consider Smackdown instead, but to be honest with ya, and I may be in the minority here, but Smackdown is really starting to bore the hell out of me. So, Worcester, maybe. Depends on where thos $55 seats are. I've been burned with super shitty seats at Centrum before.

I like to pronounce it War-Chest-Her! I would go to Raw, the PPV should cost too much and Boston parking sucks, unless you ride the T.

The Verizon center in Manchester is less than a half hour away from me and probably the cheapest. But, I'm on a budget for a while and live shows are out of the question right now. My wife did send me and some guys to a house show there as sort of a bachelor party, and the seats were decent.

I'm originally from near Cincinnati but now live in MA. I was sure it was WAR-CHEST-ER, but got corrected. Still don't know why Dorcester isn't pronounced "Dooster"...

On topic, I'd be more likely to either get the Boston show (since I work in Back Bay) or the PPV (since I'd be driving), but I'm not planning on going to either.

That's because Dorchester has the chest right in it, as opposed to Worcester, which is just a cest

Other curious names and pronunciations for our non Bay Stating friends...

Leicester (Lester)
Peabody (Pee-b'dy)
Berlin (BUHR-lun)
Billerica (Bill-RIK-uh)
Athol
Chicopee
Gayhead (snicker snicker)
Woods Hole (heh heh heh)
Cummington (splutter)

More importantly is the beautiful Lake Chargoggagogmanchaugagoggchaubunagungamaug. That's an old Nipmuck word that roughly translates to 'I fish on my side, you fish on your side, nobody fishes in the middle'.

His anecdotes on McMahon calling him up to rant about Turner, and McMahon wanting to find out what was up with Austin were pretty interesting.
