Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

The momentum continues nicely despite this being largely another one of those "alternate future" episodes that we probably won't get to see actually see down the road. Still, all the questions this episode left with me is causing a massively cognitively dissonant headache.

They seem hell-bent on redeeming Sylar from what he was in season one. Linking his desire for BRAAAINS with his ability rather than having it just be part of his personality is an interesting twists that's going to have all sorts of potential complications for him and Peter (now that Peter's once again crossed a line he shouldn't have crossed and absorbed Sylar's power and desire for BRAAAINS with it). Throw in the glimpse of a potential good-guy future for him (who does he have the kid with? why does being a father prove to be such a powerful motivator as far as suppressing the desire for BRAAAINS is concerned?) and it'll be interesting to see where they go from here with him. Clearly he'll never be the outright bad guy he was in season one ever again.

As far as Peter's concerned, what do you think happens when he finally meets up with Nathan again? What kind of residual guilt will he have from the experience of Sylar-ing Future Nathan when they have that first conversation? They almost have to come up with a different way of manifesting "the hunger" other than BRAAAINS in Peter's case since he doesn't need to slice someone's head open and feel around in there to get their power - they can't just have him be able to outright suppress it going forward.

OK, so the doctor Tracy visited said there were three sisters, and he thought Tracy was "Barbara" (a name we haven't heard before). For all we know, Tracy could be Jessica with a foster name (which is what I thought originally), or Jessica could have really just been a figment of Niki's imagination (or maybe Jessica and Niki weren't blood relatives). Needless to say, I hope that Nathan helps in finding some direction to that particular storyline ASAP.

How on earth is Adam supposed to be the key to getting the formula back? There's no way in hell he was directing things while buried alive. The last we saw of Maury, he was trapped in a nightmare. I have no clue who Daphne is working for, and I feel like I should.

Anyone have any idea what Jungian theory would say about Matt's spiritual guide being that turtle?

Could the person that Evil Angela is in disbelief over seeing next week be Father Petrelli (who we all thought was dead)?

*head spinning*

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

I'll probably have more to say when I have more time to say it.

I just wanted to send out my deepest sympathies to that poor guy in Africa who has spent his entire life dreaming about Matt Parkmen. I'm so sorry!

How many times have they done the dystopic future where all the good guys are bad and all the bad guys are good, like a million, like a million times? Or like two times? It was really cool with that one episode in season 1, but I stopped caring about the Days of Future Past and Age of Apocalypse reduxes after the first go-around of each of those too.

That's something I don't understand ... I thought Peter absorbed people's abilities unconsciously, by just being within close proximity once and then BOOM! He has that power.

Now, Peter has been in Sylar's presence many many times prior to this ... why has he never simply absorbed Sylar's "sickness" through contact before (ew, I feel like I'm describing some venereal disease)?

Parquet Wishes and Leprechaun Dreams

The most hilarious thing about Tommy Dreamer is that everyone else in WWE, from Shelton Benjamin to dudes who haven't even debuted yet, has a T-shirt available. WWE doesn't even bother printing up a T-shirt for Tommy Dreamer, A MAN WHOSE GIMMICK IS WEARING A T-SHIRT WHILE WRESTLING. And why is that? Because not a god damn person would ever pay money for a Tommy Dreamer shirt. Not even his own mother. As a result he usually ends up wearing a shirt that says "WRESTLEMANIA 24" or "JUDGEMENT DAY." I think it's time for Tommy Dreamer to just print up a T-shirt that says "UPCOMING PAY PER VIEW"

Funny, I ONLY find the Days of Future Past storylines interesting. I find it's Heroes' "present day" storylines that suck a dong. The usual logical brainfarts aside, I mostly liked last night's episode. Maybe it's because we get to see major characters "die" (and I really dislike almost every character on this show), so I enjoy the catharsis.

I also am getting a headache from trying to keep track of what is going on. Even my wife, the die-hard Heroes fan is starting to wane a little on this show. I think we'll keep watching out of a sense of duty, but I am not as interested as I was in the first two seasons.

I think it's got something to do with how Peter's power works. He's an "empath", remember? Go back to season one when Peter fell off the school balcony (or something like that) with Sylar and was badly injured. He didn't start healing (using Claire's power) until Claire showed up and was emotionally engaged with him. That last part is the key: Up until now, Sylar's never used his original ability in Peter's presence in such a way as they were both emotionally engaged with the use of the power. That's what was necessary for Peter to absorb it.

Three points of interest I forgot in the original post:

- Anyone who said Sylar lost everything but the TK & the intuitive aptitude was clearly wrong, since this future depicts him using Ted Sprague's power. That's probably going to be important down the road.

- It looks like Peter was able to absorb powers while trapped in Jesse's body, since he used Flint's pyrokinesis during the fight in the house. That also means he's got Knox's fear-based power, which is totally redundant since he's already got Niki's non-fear-based super strength (provided they remember that).

- This one came to me just now: There is one person whom Peter would have to off Sylar-style in order to get his power: The Haitian. I'd be stunned if that doesn't come into play at some point. (Though how does Peter kill him if he can't TK his head off? Bullet to the heart?)

My understanding of Peter's powers is that he has to know that he has the power and eventually train to use them. It was explained when the Invisible guy from the first season became his Yoda for three episodes. I am enjoying this season and I do like the Days of Future Past storyline. I do think they should not to do at all next season though.

I thought this was a pretty "eh" episode, although it did bring us the return of Adam Munroe, who is like my favorite character on the show. I suspect that Adam isn't behind the theft of the formula, but rather had something to do with its creation in the first place. I still would have preferred if Adam had clawed his own way out of the grave. I figure someone who's immortal should be pretty much nonplussed by everything he experiences.

As far as Peter getting access to Sylar's power, I thought it was pretty well explained in the episode. Peter may have been able to absorb it on his own, but he couldn't use it at all until Sylar explained to him how it worked. That's why Peter was trying to fish the information out of his head with his telepathy. None of Peter's abilities work without understanding.

The demonstration with the watch not only explains why Peter couldn't automatically pick it up, but why he's using it when he already has power access.

Sylar's power isn't just about getting powers -- it's intuitive analysis of complex systems. That's why Peter wanted it, because it'd let him study the future/past connections, make sense of them, and know where to interfere to prevent a future he doesn't want without kickstarting something even worse.

So, when he started cutting open Nathan's head, notice he wasn't mumbling "I want your power", he was mumbling "I want to understand". He wanted access to Nathan's logic and reasoning behind his actions, to know the complex structure behind events that were transpiring... and unfortunately his power works best by getting hands-on with the brain and studying the way the synapses and all fit together.

The "hunger" is for knowledge, and that's what he's picked up alongside the ability to understand that knowledge.

If Peter was smart, which he isn't, he'd go into the future and eat everybody's brains. Then go back to his present. Then he has everybody's powers and everybody is alive again so no harm, no foul.

Maybe he'd feel a bit uncomfortable about eating a person's brain. I know I would, no matter if I could go back in time and they'd be alive again. Which ties into why time travel is a ridiculous concept.

If I hadn't watch the past 2 seasons of this show, there's no way I'd be jumping on now. It's just not good. But, since I already know the characters, know the backstories, and (like many others here) am a bit of a sucker for scifi/comics, it remains a perfectly OK way to waste an hour. Though I've gotten in the habit of watching while doing other things to dampen the dumbness a bit.

See, I'd actually find it more interesting if that while Gabriel/Sylar doesn't actually eat the brains, Peter DOES, just because he thinks that's what Sylar does.

Oddly enough, I -am- just jumping in with this season, having missed the first two. I always wanted to watch it, but it was at an inconvenient time, but now I have DVR. I intended to rent the previous seasons to catch up ahead of time, but never got around to it so I just went ahead and jumped in.

I generally like the show, even though there are certainly things I don't always get. It'll probably be easier for me to swallow Sylar's redemption than perhaps a long term viewer, but, then, I always dig evil-guy-gets-redeemed storylines anyway. I find Hiro -really- annoying, but like Ando a lot. Matt Parkman bores me to death. I really like the idea of the indestructible cheerleader, but I find Hayden Panatierre's portrayal to be somewhat...flat. And the Jeff Goldblum...er, Mohinder story is obviously crap. The main thing that was missing for me last night is Noah, who is my favorite character thus far.

You're gonna love some of the past episodes then. Noah Bennet has had some stellar badass moments.

Speaking of Noah Bennet, there's no way it was coincidence that Future Gabriel's son was named Noah. I wonder if that was his personal tribute to Bennet or if it was something way cooler, like maybe Sylar learned some crazy ass power where you could turn someone into a child or reverse time for one specific person.

I agree with you that that is Noah, but I thought maybe the Noah we know was taken back from the future as a small boy.

For the first two seasons Hiro was the best part. Future Hiro was a badass that brought back the soul patch and Present Hiro was a geek living out his dreams.

He also used to be naive instead of stupid. Season 1 Hiro would have name-dropped Pandora's Box (or the Twilight Zone episode where that guy frees the devil or the Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby Doo) and never opened that vault.

He'd also remember Mace Windu should've just trusted Anakin (or one of the billion evil twin/doppleganger/mind control/shape-shifter stories he'd read) and never have been this much of a dick to Ando.

I think with Hiro they are setting up his heel turn. You don't really know why Ando killed him in the future, it could be due to Hiro trying destroy the world or something. Turning Peter heel was kinda easy, because he really showed those signs last season, but Hiro is the heart of the show and if goes bad, its going to take moments where you think, "Damn Hiro what are you thinking or why are so damn annoying." The writers are just setting up for the fans not to like him.

Also, Mace was right not to trust Anakin.

At the beginning the credits advertised Harold Perrineau for this episode. He's the actor that played Michael in the first two seasons. I kept expecting him in some fashion, even as Sayid's boss at the end, but he never made it in the episode.
