This episode was just as slow as the rest but at the same time provided huge fast paced development.
What the heck is going on? All of the sudden (despite storyline build up) Peter becomes a questionable character?
Will the Invisible Man's powers prove futile against Sylar's new super hearing ability? Will Claire be moved by the Radioactive Man and Wi-Fi Chick's agenda because of her hate for her adopted father? Will Peter's determination to discover his ability be the root of his (and the city's) destruction? Is Matt an unlikely hero or an unlikely villain? Once the child in Matt's wife's womb develops a brain will Matt be able to hear it's thoughts?
I'm loving the new format of moving the stories on a character basis versus the "lets show everything about everybody all at once and confuse you".
Also, I thought I was crazy when I saw Stan Lee's name in the credits after the first break (didn't feel like rewinding the DVR to confirm). Then the cameo at the end after Hiro's talk with Ando about being a hero. Just great!
I love this damn show. Discuss!

Am I wrong, or did Nathan reveal the ending to Lost during this episode?
That's what I would do. Round us all up, and stick us on some island in the middle of nowhere ...
Jeph Loeb mentioned during an interview (I think it was on IGN) that the writers might slyly find a way to link their respective shows' continuities together ... or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

Jack can heal the crippled (ex-wife) and bring back the dead (Charlie), Hurley is cursed with bad mojo after using the numbers, and Juliet is a super scientist. But I don't think anyone else we've seen can claim to have powers.
EDIT: Oh, OK, Desmond is pulling a Dr. Manhattan nowadays ...

I thought this was a standout episode for two reasons Peter & Sylar.
I kept watching Peter to try and keep track of the powers that he had, apparently he can siphon any power (even ones that Sylar took). I missed some early episodes, did Peter ever meet Eve? If not...what was with the voice?
As for Sylar...it appears that he either HAS to kill people to gain their powers...or believes he does. Otherwise, he'd have all the powers that Peter does. Sylar with Hiro's timeshifting abilities?...brrr.
And, I liked having an actually suspenseful cliffhanger ending between Simone getting shot, and HRG caught in a stand off. It's also satisfying to have folks actually teaming up to ask the obvious questions once in a while.

I thought that was more a sly reference to an X-Men storyline of having mutants gathered in a mutant island paradise called Genosha. And the ensuing mutant genocide that occurred afterwards.

I think the rule they're going with is that he has to be able to examine something in order to see how to make it work "correctly". In order to gain someone's powers, he has to be able to physically poke around in their brain and then somehow changes his to work in the same way.
He may not HAVE to rip the person's head open, killing them instantly, in order to gain their power, but I think he believes it's just a helluva lot quicker to do that than to get an O.R. and do it surgically.
I think Peter's little trick with his voice was just his telekenesis he got from Sylar it just came out via his voice in his anger. I don't think Eve could ever actually knock someone over with her voice like a sonic scream, just persuade them to do things.

I can't really recall any specific storyline point to back it up, but I've kinda been assuming all along that Peter would eventually become the big villan. I guess because he's right on par with Sylar, except more powerful since Sylar gaining abilities is dependant upon him killing people first. Nobody will be any match for Peter at some point, and a guy like that has to become the bad guy because he'll make any other bad guy look silly.
You know, if there were people out there who could fly and read people's minds and stop time, I'd be kinda pissed if my special power was good hearing. Or melting things. Or getting an internet connection in the woods. Enough with the new people/abilities, they're laming it up.

He wouldn't necessarily have to become a villain, but I agree that you can't have him running around confronting bad guys when he's more or less all powerful. You could just write him out completely, have him die or something, or you could do what they do a lot of the time in comics when a guy is too powerful to hang around with mortals, and you send him away into seclusion (Dr. Strange, the Hulk, the Silver Surfer).
My favorite episode of LOST ever followed up the next week with my favorite episode of Heroes ever. What'd I do to get so lucky??
Also, I'm loving the random heroes that are showing up, even if their powers aren't as exciting as Claire's or The Haitian's. That being said, lol at you Sylar. How greedy do you have to be to take a power that the hero has told you sucks to have? Perhaps he got excited about the ability to be able to hear anybody sneaking up on him? Or maybe the ability to turn into a human lie detector?
Sylar sure didn't look to comfortable with his new power too - is he starting to collect too many powers thus turning him into the time bomb or does he need time to learn to control them once he takes them ?
Won't miss Simone. I am sure that Isaac & Peter will blame each other for her death - maybe Isaac can quickly paint a picture of himself beating up Peter because I don't see him standing a chance in hell with him head to head
I am sure that we have not seen the last of Ando - Hiro needs him too much
HRG is not in a good position right now to try and lie his way out of this one - but how can anyone trust anything he says ?

That's why they have Parkman with them. That's also why they struck at the Bennett household rather than Primatech (no Haitian).
Remember, at some point Peter has to get messed up pretty badly because when Future Hiro met him in the sub way he said "You look different without the scar".
Will Isaac end up shooting Peter? Will Sylar and Peter throw down at some point?
The last few episodes have been setting up something major to happen, but they keep putting it off. The last 3 or 4 episodes of the season are going to have to be wall to wall action and payoff for all this set up to be worth it.
It sort of reminds me of Carnivale. The entire season one was just a setup for season two. Then when season two finally got around to the payoffs, the show got cancelled.
EDIT TO ADD THIS THOUGHT: Could The Haitian cause Sylar to "forget" the powers he's learned from examining peoples brains by doing a mind wipe on him? If he doesn't remember taking something apart and seeing how it works, he wouldn't remember how to make his brain do the same thing and thus wouldn't have their power. And if that's the case, why didn't HRG just have The Hatian do that when they had Sylar locked up?

Oooh, maybe that's where the scar comes from: a nice big scar across the forehead from a little unscheduled brain surgery! Of course that would mean a grisly death for just about anyone else, but for Peter (and Claire, I suppose), it's just a temporary inconvenience. That would explain Hiro's comment and would also set up a fair fight between Sylar and Peter in the future.
Originally posted by paulshearwoodIf Peter has the Claire power it begs the question how would he be able to get a scar in the first place???
Well Hiro did tell this to him at the same time that he told Peter "Save the cheerleader, Save the world." Maybe part of saving the world was Peter getting Claire's power by meeting her.(Or a nice side effect.) So since he changed the future that Hiro was from, he doesn't have to have the scar anymore.
Alternatively, if Peter has to concentrate or evoke the power rather than it happening naturally, he might have been distracted when he was scarred. That may be one of Peter's limitations, that he has to think about his power where Claire's just happens.
(Actually that makes me wonder if there are things that Claire could do if she concentrated on it? What sorts of things though... Maybe she could accelerate her metabolism to allow herself to run faster or longer things like that. Maybe she could change her appearance by making herself taller or shorter. I'm just throwing ideas out there.)
I don't think Sylar is overloading, the mechanic as much as told him that it took her weeks to control her power and that she suffered migraines until she did. Big surprise he has the same problem.
As far as the Sylar popping the skull issue, I think that the idae is that Sylar thinks of his power as linked to his obsession with watches. So to see other people's powers he needs to take them apart like a watch. Not being a brain surgeon, he can't put them back together like he can a watch. (Begs the question whether he would want to if he could.)
I marked out for Stan Lee.

Had this pointed out to me by my (lurker) brother - who is going to stop Nikki from killing Nathan since we know from earlier in the season that Hiro saw that Nathan wins the election ? Will Jessica be the one to stop her or will she be successful after he wins ?

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you... I missed this thread when it was initially posted and felt a real need to comment on this point:

Impossible. And there's a very practical/"scientific" reasoning behind it.
In the Heroes world, as demonstrated both by Sylar and (to a much lesser extent) by Doctor Who, and as eventually rejected by HRG in the most recent episode, becoming evil involves developing a total apathy/lack of concern for others, to the degree where any feelings one has for any other person need to be completely shut out. This is completely contradictory to how Peter's power works - as Mohinder said, Peter is an empath; he must tap into the feelings/emotions of the other heroes he has come into contact with in order to make use of their abilities. Thus, were Peter to turn evil, he would be reduced to an average human being, because he would have to shut off the very mechanism by which his power works.
In short, Peter is quite possibly the only Hero who can't turn evil. I foresee a "Spider-Man"-style path for him down the road, where he is misunderstood and his wide range and strength of abilities make it easy for any manipulator to re-cast him as a menace to society in the public eye.
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.
Anybody else had a chance to see this yet? I'm pretty much floored with how well this was put together. The animation is very crisp and the voices all seem to work well.
