Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

Just another day in the wacky world of superheroes...

So the popular suspicions were true: Claire is a Petrelli, which means a billion more questions have just been raised. Firstly, what was the extent of Nathan's relationship with Meredith? (And will that have an impact on Nathan's political aspirations?) Was Nathan in that fire? Will the revelation of Claire's powers to Nathan do anything to change his reluctance? Most important of all, what kind of connection (if any) do Nathan and H.R.G. have?

And as for Uncle Peter, Doctor Who's going to have to alter his approach, because it seems like Peter needs exactly the opposite of emotional detachment in order to invoke his powers. (Though I wonder, why was Peter thinking about Claire as he was plummeting from a height of thirty stories?) Selective control is obviously next on the agenda, because Isaac's paint work kinda interrupted the moment there at the very end.

Next question: What sinister purpose does Linderman have planned for Jessica? There has to be a reason he'd go to the trouble to buy off the police to get Niki out of the psych lockup... Plus, the mirror thing kinda became a bit more obvious tonight, with the doomed psych using one to bring Jessica out initially and then Jessica trapping Niki in one at the end of the episode... this is definitely not a split personality and definitely more than just superstrength on Niki's part.

Oh, and getting back to H.R.G., that little beatdown by Sylar at the start (surprised that Sylar didn't just kill him or even beat him up a bit more, though) kinda proves pretty definitively, IMO, that he's no super and that the power block ability was the Haitian the whole time. (Claire made a really big mistake, though, in not telling H.R.G. the aquarium tale as well as Claire's "mom" - it's only a matter of time before he finds out that she's found Meredith.)

Sadly, the appearance by Hiro's father is just a mere distraction of the title, as Hiro proves his intelligence in getting his sister to out herself as the one to save their father's company. Too bad, that one had potential. Did make for some funny moments from Ando, though.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Nathan being the father is about the most boring reveal they could have gone with. Linderman would have been so much more interesting, especially as I feel he's going to wind up being a much bigger threat than Sylar. Also, we already know that Nathan doesn't have any connection to Mr. Bennet, because they already met a few episodes ago.

This episode sucked except for the mutual powers reveal between Claire and her mom. I guess Sylar busting up the Bennet house was entertaining too, but it came out of nowhere in a weird way and only lasted about a minute.

It seems like next week will be really good since we'll have Hiro back on track, Peter testing out his 'new' powers, Bennet hunting down Sylar again, and whatever Nathan does when he finds out exactly who his daughter is.

In all, a medicore setup episode for a potentially awesome episode next week.

Ken Kennedy debuted a new finisher: Jeff Hardy fans will insist on calling it the Swanton Bomb, but it looks WAY more devastating when not performed by a 180-pound fruitcake.

Just curious, how many people noticed that License plate number on George Takei's limo? Cute reference, or cheesy?

Well, I rewound the DVR to geek out.

As for the Nathan reveal, the lack of suspense falls squarely on the shoulders of the NBC promo department. They didn't have to tell us that they were going to reveal the father and they REALLY didn't have to show us a shot of an arm that was so obviously Nathan's.

Agreed. The reveal of Nathan being Claire's father didn't need to be hyped. It would have worked best as a shocking ending, like Claire waking up in the morgue with her torso completely open.

I know my Heroes naysaying isn't popular but I have to say some nays.

So Claire is Italian? She's a Petrelli and I'm not sure what her mom is. (Although Jessalyn Gilsig was a neat casting choice. I miss her as Gina calling Christian nothing but "asshole" on Nip/Tuck.) Anyway, Claire sure doesn't look Italian. Peter has the hots for his neice. You know what I don't get? Horned Rimmed's relationship with his wife. Why did he marry her and how can he continually have the Haitian mind blank her and keep her lobotomized? And what's with Claire's brother, who has no purpose on the show except to conveniently cause problems for Claire and be written out otherwise? That whole family unit is poorly conceived, badly written, and nonsensical.

First five minutes of Heroes pissed me off right good. So Peter and Dr. Who walk down the crowded streets of Manhattan, both invisible, and they bump into people as they go. They show us the POV of them invisible with people getting jostled by them, or the invisible man will steal a pretzel, which floats into thin air and vanishes into his coat, which is invisible, so anything that disappears into his invisible coat is also invisible? Is that how that works? And then despite these unseen things knocking people around, the people have no reaction! Worst of all, the whole time the two of them are talking loudly about a bomb going off in Manhattan. And the people around them have no reaction. They don't hear them? Since when does 'invisible' mean 'inaudible'?!

George Takei tracking his son down halfway around the world, yelling at him for disappearing and then offering him an executive vice presidency? WHAT?! That makes no sense, regardless of how it played out that his sister was smarter and got the job. It was all dumb ass cliches.

This is the type of crap on this show that drives me nuts. Retarded stuff like this, really sloppy writing and directing, takes me out of the show. And I want to like this show but I have to shut my brain off to watch it. The best aspects of Heroes (Claire, Hiro, Nathan, Sylar) still don't compensate for or overcome how dumb it is to me.

On the other hand: No Matt Parkman (who bores me, and so does his wife) and best of all no Mohinder were big plusses. Other minuses: "Touching" moments with Issac and Simone. Ecchhh.

Make the show about Nathan, Claire, Hiro, Ando, Horn Rimmed, Sylar, Invisible Dr. Who, and George Takei and kill off everyone else and Heroes would be vastly improved.

Well, that has been depicted as part of his abilities since they introduced his character, but if you want me to no-prize it out for you, here goes. Dr. Who's ability is a sort of super camoflage that prevents him from being detected by normal humans. It affects both their ability to see and hear him. Hell, let's go the whole nine yards and presume that it also exerts a mild mental effect on the people around him, preventing them from thinking too hard about what's going on. We've already had a girl regenerate from her own autopsy, so I don't find this that hard to buy into.

During the scene where he's holding her hand while the Haitian goes to work, I was wondering the same thing. Perhaps he just likes mindless women with dog obsessions? Or maybe he knows that his job would never allow him to be with a wife with any sort of mental capacity, so he had to take what he could?

The way that the Linderman character has been built up this season, I get the feeling that when they do introduce him, its going to be a huge let down. He's Heroes' version of the Others.

Peter's spying on Simone was dumb. A) That hug she gave at the end looked perfectly platonic - like Isaac wanted the kiss but she just gave him a hug. B) Maybe Simone wouldn't be spending time with her ex if Peter was around to talk to her. Turning invisible and spying on your loved ones seems like it produces self-fulfilling prophecies.

The cynic in me wants to say that Nathan is only Claire's father to quash any Claire-Peter 'shipping that was going on after their earlier meeting.

You know, I will buy that explanation. That actually works for me. But it would be much better if Heroes explains it rather than fans coming up with their own answers.

For instance, and this has been annoying me for months, Nathan Petrelli. He can fly. And he can fly at incredibly fast speeds as we saw when he escaped from HRG and the Haitian in Vegas. Well, it's not enough to just say, "Well, he can fly" and then have Mohinder distract you with five minutes of droning soliloquy that means nothing. So much would have to go into Nathan being able to fly. What is his bone structure like for him to be able to withstand velocities? How does he breathe the higher up he goes? How does he see over distances and navigate so he knows where he's going? (Anyone who has been in a plane and looked out the window knows that the ground looks very different from the skies that it does on the ground.) What is his source of propulsion? Is he actually telekinetic? Hell, how didn't his pajama bottoms rip or tear right off while he was zooming across the sky? (I know, I know, same reason Bruce Banner's pants don't rip when he becomes the Hulk.) If Nathan is physically different as he has to be for his body to support flight, how hasn't it been discovered? He must have had medical exams. He's a public figure after all.

I remember when Fantastic Four came out in 2005 and Roger Ebert made a valid point about the Human Torch (paraphrasing): he can get hot enough to go supernova. That means he could destroy the whole planet. My God, what does that mean?! How would someone deal with that much destructive power? And Fantastic Four doesn't deal with it. "Flame on!" Fight Dr. Doom, goof on the Thing. It works on purely a childish level.

Heroes is supposed to be different. "Ordinary people discovering extraordinary abilities," right? It supposed to explore what it means to have special powers. For this to work, the Heroes should be a lot more curious about what they can do. I know I am. Claire was, and so was Hiro. That's why they were so awesome from the beginning. Peter, to his credit, is also curious. But Heroes bypasses a lot of the most interesting aspects of exploring what it means to have superpowers and plugs the characters into dumbass mysteries. Nothing about the "Save the Cheerleader" storyline was as interesting or exciting as those first scenes in the pilot of Claire exploring her healing or Hiro learning he can stop time. We need more of that shit on the show and that means better writing.

All right, I'm done ranting. Bring on the next episode.

Alright, time for an outlandish theory.

What do we know about HRG's relationship with Linderman? In other words, have we ever heard of HRG talking about Linderman? I feel like that isn't out of the realm of possibilities, but I'm not so sure that HRG and Linderman aren't the same person.

For starters, if you have a copy of this episode at your disposal, go back to the scene where Sylar is going through HRG's wallet. When he pulls out his driver's license, it appears that it has his last name on it but no first name. There's a signature above the picture, but it's in script and it's so small I can't make it out. It appears to be something with a couple of lowercase Gs, Js, Ps, Qs, or Ys in it. I know "Linderman" doesn't fit that characterization, but maybe THAT is his name. I dunno. Either way, who's ever heard of a driver's license without a full name on it? Perhaps that was intentional, either on HRG's part or on the part of the writers.

Second, when Sylar was in the house talking to Mrs. Bennet, it really stood out to me that she started to say, "I've always just known him as--" but she never finished (because she was interrupted by the dog). Could that be a device the writers used to keep from revealing that HRG goes by the name Linderman?

We already know HRG is a pretty important character. And as far as we know, Linderman is supposed to be kind of a big deal too. Is it that farfetched that they're the same person?

(Note: I could have just completely missed what HRG's real name is. If so, somebody please clarify. That would shoot down most of my theory, but that doesn't mean they couldn't still be the same person.)

The closest we've seen of Bennet and Linderman being connected would have to be when Bennet and the Haitian tried to nab Nathan in Vegas. I suppose its possible that Linderman and Bennet are the same person, but given that a) Bennet is based out of Texas while Linderman seems to reside in Vegas, and b) Bennet is always talking about someone else higher on the food chain giving him orders (in particular, the orders NOT to kill Sylar), if they are connected, I have a feeling it would be because Linderman is behind the whole Primatech Paper operation.

Peter and Dr. Who were walking through a packed crowd in New York. There are like 100 conversations going at once, nobody would be able to hear their specific conversation. Even if they did catch the word "bomb" why would they immediately assume one of them is going to blow up? They could be talking about a movie they just saw or something.

You see, John, this is where you need a wife to say "will you shut the hell up and just watch the show and enjoy it, please?"

I question these things all the time, but now most of them don't actually leave my brain and exit my mouth.

Mrs. Dunk is 100% Italian and nobody believes until she starts to curse me out in her native tongue....

Just finished watching courtesy of nbc.com and a couple things came to mind - some of which have been mentioned here -

Hate - absolutely hate that Nathan is Claire's father. There better be a real good reason for this because I jusst feel that this was a real shortcut copout by the writers. Though as mentioned earlier, they reveal of powers between Claire & Nip/tuck was awesome.

If Mr. Sulu is so wealthy and powerful, why was his meeting with Hiro in an empty warehouse ? Why didn't he just take him back to the penthouse of the Four Seasons where he was obviously staying ? And is Kimiko's secret power superior business sense ? And if powers are genetic & hereditary, what power does Mr. Sulu possess.

I would have been much happier if Claude has pitched Isaac off the roof instead of Peter though I did kind of wish that Peter hadn't met Claire so he wouldn't heal.....

Loved Jessica trapping Nikki behind the looking glass - maybe she can go find the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit or Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum to help her get out ?

No Mohinder, No Alias Cop & his annoying cheating wife - both big pluses

And finally, why would Sylar keep HRG alive ? That just made absolutely no sense whatsoever

Is it Monday yet ?
