| #1 Posted on 24.9.04 0709.44 | Instant Rating: 2.33 | Well tomorrow is the Australian Rules Football grand final. The Mighty Brisbane Lions take on the hapless Port Adelaide Power. If Brisbane wins it will be the fourth year in succession equalling the record set by Collingwood sometime around 1925 - AFLTA. Port Adelaide have finished top of the ladder in the last few years but choked in the finals to be bundled out early. This year they seem to have got it right.
Who will win? More importantly who f**king cares? All I know is that I'm going to spend the day in my recliner eating corn chips and jerky trying to drink my own body weight in beer until I am incapable of independant thought and my brains are running out my ears.

Fuck Brisbane and that miserable little bastard Jason Ackermanis. I'm still reeling from two straight years watching my Pies get beaten by Brisbane, especially the heartbreaker in 2002. Especially since the second loss just seemed to crush the franchise from my limited exposure to this year.

Apart from 15 minutes in the 2nd quarter, the Lions never really got a roll on. The bounce of the ball didn't go their way, but I think they won the fights. SPF - watching Collingwood lose 2 straight years were 2 of the happiest days of my life. Collingwood sucks. :) | evilwaldo

How did North Melbourne do this year? I used to follow the footies and they were my favorite team.
I just saw the 2004 ladder and what happened to the St. Kilda franchise? They were the doormats for something like a decade.

On St.Kilda, when you finish last you get the first pick in the annual draft, so the saints have been picking up the best kids in the country for the last few years. Those kids are now entering their prime and really stamping their name on the competition. I would expect them to be in the top half of the ladder for the next 5 years - incompetent management permitting.
