| #1 Posted on 26.1.11 1343.35 | Per http://www.jsonline.com/features/food/114521569.html comes word that the Milwaukee Brewers have narrowed a field of 1400 new food items suggested by fans down to 4 choices, at least one of which will be at the balllpark next season.
The four finalists are:
* Racing Sausage Kebabs. Chunks of the five sausages available at Miller Park (Bratwurst, Italian Sausage, Hot Dog, Polish Sausage, and Chorizo) skewered with onion, peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms, then grilled.
* Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. I don't think I need to describe this, it's not a foreign concept.
* Canadian Poutine. I don't think I have to describe this either, as poutine has been mentioned on this board before. But just in case, we're talking french fries covered in beef gravy and cheese curds.
* And finally, the one that I'll bet the guy who nominated never though he would see as a finalist, Fish Tacos. "Taco-season tilapia, onion, cilantro, cheese and salsa in a soft corn tortilla."

Poutine. The idea of this being served at a ballpark is just awesome. And! It totally fits Milwaukee/Wisconsin thanks to the cheese curds.

Beef gravy alone means they've gone wrong.
Note: They CAN get it right in Ontario, you just have to be on the Quebec border. I think there's a number of "Poutenerie" locations around Ontario as well, and the classic poutine on their menu is Quebec comparable.

Wait, what?
What kind of gravy is it supposed to be?

Typically chicken. In fact, let's cite wiki which shockingly seems to have its facts right:
"The gravy used is generally a light chicken, veal or turkey gravy, mildly spiced with a hint of pepper, or a sauce brune which is a combination of beef and chicken stock, originating in Quebec. Heavy beef or pork-based brown gravies are rarely used."
