I'm NOT at all a basketball fan. It just doesn't interest me. However, I am very much a sports fan, and couldn't help but notice that on TSN that severe lack in coverage of the Vancouver Grizzlies. This would normally please me, as it leaves lots of room for other sports, however it occurred they hadn't talked about them in a LONG time.

I was curious enough to check the NBA standings, where I noticed they....aren't there!

So - what happened? Money? Too many crappy records?

A brief rundown would be all I require.

It would seem most of Vancouver shared your opinion.

This column sums it up fairly well.

Plus you can link to a couple of other stories that will fill in some other gaps.

Hope it helps

Thanks Phil.... I knew the Grizzlies were in trouble for years, but I stopped following their plight some time ago.

Fingers crossed the Senators follow them. (I'm gonna get shot by local wieners.)

Not only did the Grizzlies move to Memphis, but trading Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Mike Bibby away immediately demonstrated, to me, that they're not interested in winning. To me, Bibby's performance in last year's playoffs only re-emphasized that point.

Also, whoever thought that Bryant Reeves was a great player to give huge contract to and build a franchise around needs to submit to a drug test. Ditto for whoever decided to draft Steve Francis over Lamar Odom. Not that Stevie isn't a great player, but 1) they already had Mike Bibby and 2) it was well known Francis didn't want to play for them and Odom did.

Well I thought the reason they drafted Francis was so they could trade him for someone else that they wanted, but I don't even remember who now, so it must no have worked out well, especially since Francis is doing so well.

I do actually like some of the parts they have now, they've got a lot of young talent there, with some time they should be a competitive team. And they are actually 12 - 12 since they finally ended the losing streak at the beginning of the season. I think Hubie is there just to teach the young guys, and then once they are ready to make a run at the playoffs they'll get somebody new to coach them. And I think Hubie's doing a nice job. J-Will has even lowered his turnovers by a full turnover per game. Although still having Bibby would be a lot better.

I'm more impressed with the pass. Don't see enough off-the-glass alley oops these days. Best dunk, though? Word? I'm sure Vince Carter and a certain French Olympian would beg to differ. Maybe top 20ish. MAYBE. - StingArmy
