Maybe it's because I watched the Mick Foley show after HIAC, but I can't help but be struck by the juxtaposition of having a HIAC match STOPPED because of a run in attack on both participants ... on the 20th anniversary of the match that only death itself seemingly would have stopped.
Seriously ... a HIAC match STOPPED?? WTF? Until they went off the air, I was waiting for Foley to grab a mike and shout "No! These matches DO NOT STOP!" Smh.
As for the rest of the card, I'm at least somewhat interested in where they go with AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. I don't know if the timing was off or not, but Styles clearly tapped before the three-count; usually in these things they try to do it simultaneously. How does Styles respond? A true Good Guy would forfeit the title, no?
Becky beating Charlotte and Miz/Maryse *cleanly* beating Bryan/Brie (with Maryse pinning Brie in the middle of the ring) both counted as shockers IMHO.
I missed the Hardy-Orton HIAC match, but it ended with some interesting dickishness by Orton, insisting the ref count three on Jeff Hardy after he was deemed unable to continue. (But still -- again with the unable to continue in what's supposed to be one of the most barbaric matches in WWE!)
There is no juice to the Miz/Bryan feud. It's like a bad cartoon where the villian keeps pulling the rug out from a hapless hero. The idea of Miz as champ is stupid.
Becky winning was the right call. Joe/AJ needed to be in Hell in a Cell not Roman/Braun. The refs looked borderline retarded last night with all the dumb finishes. I swear it was the same ref who fucked up AJ/Joe that called off the main event.
Brock had a great moment, but it killed the match with the stoppage. Rest of the card was ok. Alexa getting in any offense on Rhonda is dumb.
C'mon, Bliss is a five-time womens champion. It's not out of the realm of possibility that she could get some offense in on Rousey. Otherwise, you've painted yourself into a pretty tight corner with the womens division. And even last night, they did a great job IMHO of painting it as a two-fold thing: (1) Rousey was injured, and (2) Bliss learned something from their first match. Good storytelling, I thought.
As for the Foley show, I liked it. It wasn't outstanding or hilarious, but it held my interest for sure. I thought he went into Cactus Jack mode a little too often (and for random reasons) but overall I thought it was good. He does some great impressions, too.
