Both the Kings and the Nets are one game away from the NBA Finals.

Wouldn't it piss off NBC to no end if Sacramento and New Jersey met in the NBA Finals? I'd mark out for it of course (being a Pacers fan, of course I'm rooting for small-market teams such as mine), but it might end up as a guaranteed ratings disaster.

That's not taking anything away from either the Kings or the Nets-- we all know they're great teams. But they're not great big-market teams. You know that if NBC had a choice, they'd have the Lakers and Knicks in the NBA Finals year after year after year after year. And I'm sure Lakers-Celtics is what they're hoping for this year.

Me, I'm sort of indifferent on who wins the East, 'cuz I like both the Celtics and Nets.

But in the West....

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS!

Well, the Nets may be the stepchild of the Knickerbockers, but they are in the New York tv market.

Now, once they move to Trenton, that's a different story.

They're not moving to Trenton. If they go anywhere it will be to Newark, which is still in the NYC market.

And yes, I'd be thrilled to see a Nets-Kings final because not only have I been a Nets fan for almost 20 years, but I believe they have a shot(a SHOT, I didn't say they would win) at beating the Kings. :)

My personal take... if the Nets and Kings finish the job as they should, people would be crazy not to watch the Finals. These two teams have been the most consistently entertaining and fun to watch all year, and I honestly believe a Nets-Kings final would be the most even matchup we could get in terms of quality of play (meaning we go six or seven games, meaning more ad dollars for NBC). Boston proved last night that they're frauds, and ratings will suffer if the Lakers make it because people will blow it off thinking they'll romp (which they most likely would, since Boston are frauds and New Jersey doesn't have the size to contend).

It's almost like wrestling - it's what's interesting and different that the game needs. Name value isn't everything.

(And the Nets will still be in the NYC market to some extent, even if they move to Trenton, because they'll be on YES.)

Wait until after Game Six ... Then we'll see if you can call the Celtics "frauds" or not.

And you still can't ... even if they lose. So nyah.

Speaking as a casual fan, I don't see why NBC or NBA would want possible series A over possible series B. All the possible series match-ups should lead to a very competitive and entertaining NBA finals; where the teams representing each conference could very well be the best in each conference. Of course, I'd be lying if I didn't want the Kings to play the Nets in the finals. And I'd be lying if I didn't want Nets in there too, whether or not they play in East Rutherford or Newark or the old RAC back in the early 80s. Nevertheless, the NBA and NBC should be very happy no matter who wins the remaining series.

If the Celitics were in the Finals, I would make sure I watched. Not because I am a Celtics fan, because I'm not, but because of the history the franchise carries and I would want to see if they can pull it off. Take away that storied past, and they're just some team I don't care about, like...the Nets.

I'll put it this way: I don't care who comes out of the west, because both teams are awesome. But if I have something to do on an ight when a finals game is being played, I'd be much more disappointed in missing it if the Celtics were playing then if the Nets were playing.

I don't see how you could call any of the teams left in the playoffs frauds. That just sounds bitter. Now how can the Celtics be frauds if they beat the defending Easter Conference champion 76's in the first round? How are they frauds when they came back from 21 down and then the next night came 2 free throws away from being up 3-1? If the Net win the series it's because they are a great team, just like the Celtics are a great team. To call any one a fraud at this point sounds ignorant to me.

Maybe I'm just bias- GO CELTICS~!

I agree with Snooge-- these four remaining teams are good, no doubt about that.

But I also agree that Nets-Kings is probably the only possible matchup out of the four in which the outcome might be in doubt. Neither the Nets nor the Celtics, I think, can beat the Lakers-- and I'm pretty sure the Celtics can't beat the Kings.

    Having said all that--

I still want to see it end up as Celtics-Kings. But I wouldn't be too pissed if it was Nets-Kings, because I have great respect for the Nets (even though they beat my Pacers).

If the Lakers get past the Kings, I'll be extremely highly pissed, because that'll likely clinch a three-peat for all intents and purposes. And I CAN'T STAND THE LAKERS.

    Laker haters make me smile.

Meanwhile, of course I'm pulling for the Lakers to come out of the west on top, but I want to see them meet the Celtics in the finals. If anything, for that neat-o video packages and Magic/Bird interviews I'm sure NBC will cook up for it.

No team in the NBA can beat my Los Angeles Lakers in a best of 7 series. I know it hurts, and I'm sorry.

NBC wouldn't care one bit if the finals were a ratings disaster, since they won't be broadcasting the NBA next year, ABC and ESPN will.

That said, this year's playoffs have been far more entertaining than recent years, and NBC is doing an excellent job in their presentations.

Lookie, the Celtics went and pulled another fourth quarter disappearing act. I told you they were frauds.

Pray the Kings win, so the two teams that deserve it play each other...
