Leaving tomorrow. Going to spend a day in Badlands National Park, and then the next 2 days in Mt Rushmore area. Other than Deadwood, is there any other "must see" items in that general area?
Wall Drug?
Devil's Tower?

been quite a few years since I was there - I believe my favorite thing was driving this road called the Iron Mountain road. really fun on a motorcycle. Maybe not so much in a minivan. There is another road that I can't recall the name of that was fun as well. I'm sure when you get there you will see something about it. lots of twists and turns and going though cut tunnels and some rock formations.

We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.

When we were that way we did Mr Rushmore first and then the Badlands as it was getting dark. Big mistake. Make sure you have time to really check out the Badlands, the place is amazing. Mr Rushmore is cool too, but it looks bigger on tv. If I could do it again I'd view Rushmore from a spot outside that National Park itself. Seeing it get closer as you drive is exciting then you get there and there it is and you take some pictures and that's kind of it. I went 17 years ago and they were doing some upkeep, so there might be more too it. I'd love to travel like that again someday. Enjoy your trip.

We went about 4 years ago. Apart from Rushmore and Deadwood, we went to:We didn't make it to the Corn Palace and to my eternal regret, we skipped seeing Smash Mouth at the local fair on my birthday.

I enjoyed all of it but I have a high tolerance for wacky tourist traps.

Recommendation - check the licence plates of other cars. You're only there a few days but I bet you can find all states except Hawaii, and most Canadian provinces too.

The Corn Palace sounds waaaayyy cooler than it actually is. It's neat, but it's just like a high school gym with a lot of corn art.

We drove Iron Mountain Road and Meedle Highway. So beautiful. Rushmore is cool. Not OMG WOW!, but cool.

Badlands were phenomenal. Spent almost an entire day there.
Did the Old McDonald farm (petting zoo)

And Rushmore Mountain fun park was great.

Wall Drug......thats it?

Best part? The 80 MPH interstate speed limit let me drive 90 MPH without fear of a ticket.

Free water indeed.

Jackelope was "down for maintenance " the whole time we were there.

Overall, still a great trip.

Some local guy actually wrote a book with the official rules. I didn't buy it cause its a waste of fifteen bucks. Its not even a maritimes game really more for just Cape Breton. I go to school on the mainland (ha)
