I'm heading to Mexico next week and I'm wondering if there is a site in English that lists any wrestling events that will be taking place while I'm there. I was on the AAA and CMLL websites, but they are in Spanish and sadly I don't speak or read the language. So what I'm looking for is a website listing events happening, or if anybody knows of an event happening around Playa Del Carmen please let me know.
That site is a seemingly endless list of wrestling events all over the world. Doing a search for Mexico brings up a bunch of CMLL and AAA shows on the weekends, and a few during the week. No info on cards or anything, just dates, promotions and venues.
AAA happens to be taping TV over in Cozumel on Friday. Lineup here. Rudos LA Park (La Parka from WCW) & Hector Garza are facing tecnicos Mesias (briefly in TNA) & Zorro (briefly on Super Astros! which probably doesn't help you) in the main event. It looks like a fun show and/or people may bleed a lot in the semimain. Show is listed as starting at 8:30 pm local time.
There's also a house show on Saturday at the Kantunil bullring, but that sounds like it's a bit of a haul from Cancun. I don't have any information on CMLL shows nearby.
Complete information for local lucha shows is tough to find, since the national promotions hand off responsibly to the local promoter who actually handles the show and who may not care enough to mention the show on the internet. It's worth asking people when you get there if they've heard about any thing closer.
I enjoyed it overall. Was the all-cage format overkill? Maybe -- but not in a bad way. I could definitely see it being a yearly event, especially if TNA uses restraint (ha!) and keeps down the number of cage matches the rest of the year.
