In his own calm, measured way, Duncan was seething over the way official Joey Crawford, with what appeared to be virtually no provocation, tossed him out of Sunday's 91-86 loss to the Mavericks.
"Joey knew exactly what he was doing," Duncan said Sunday. "He came into this game with a personal vendetta against me. It had to be. Because I didn't do anything the entire the game."

Originally posted by Joey Crawford That's his opinion. He said nothing when he was walking off the court and he called me a piece of [blank]? Is that nothing?
... He's complaining. He was constantly complaining. He was complaining when he was on the court. Then he got on the bench and kept doing the same stuff. So I just ejected him.
Duncan's story is that he was just sitting on the bench joking & talking with Robert Horry when Crawford ejected him. I'd like to see if anyone has footage of what Tim was actually doing when he got the 2nd T.

Though all did mention Duncan is a known whiner. | chill

| #8 Posted on 17.4.07 1333.40 | Instant Rating: 2.29 | Huh. I remember hearing somewhere, I think, that the NBA usually doesn't discuss fines or suspensions handed down to its referees (something about maintaining people's faith in the integrity of the officiating), but I guess in this case they felt justified in bending that rule a little, and that was probably a good idea. I must agree, Kawshen. He was out of control. He should not be reinstated and I can't imagine he will be.

Stern on PTI yesterday suggested that Crawford will not seek reinstatement and that was probably his last game in the NBA.
What a sad way to go out.

1. This was not the first time this ref has had to be reprimanded for the exact same thing.
2. Crawford in no way will admit he was wrong in what he did.
So yeah, wouldn't be suprised to see him gone forever. | ekedolphin

(He was one of ten NBA referees so charged.) He resigned from the NBA effective immediately, and was reinstated by David Stern in 1999-- because of the 1999 NBA players' lockout, he didn't miss a game. "Thank you for calling Smarty Mart. Hence the hilarious joke under the Tim Duncan entry in Bill Simmons' latest column:
Originally posted by article By the way, I seriously considered giving him the MVP for helping to rid the world of Joey Crawford last weekend. So long, Joey. Don't forget to downgrade from first class to coach on your flight back to hell.
I'm with Bill. Good riddance Joey.
