http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/nba_experts/post/Duncan-s-diatribe?urn=nba,29405

In his own calm, measured way, Duncan was seething over the way official Joey Crawford, with what appeared to be virtually no provocation, tossed him out of Sunday's 91-86 loss to the Mavericks.

"Joey knew exactly what he was doing," Duncan said Sunday. "He came into this game with a personal vendetta against me. It had to be. Because I didn't do anything the entire the game."

I wonder what this fine will look like.

Duncan's story is that he was just sitting on the bench joking & talking with Robert Horry when Crawford ejected him. I'd like to see if anyone has footage of what Tim was actually doing when he got the 2nd T.

I haven't seen it, but from listening to Dan Patrick today they do have footage of the entire time from first to second foul of Duncan and everyone on his show was 100% sure the ref was dead wrong in this.

Though all did mention Duncan is a known whiner.

They showed footage just this afternoon on ESPN, and there's audio of the ref challenging him: "Do you want to fight me?" This is going to reflect poorly on the refs, when one of their best does this.

Wow, Joey Crawford was full of shit with not only the tech on Duncan, but the subsequent offensive foul on Alberto.

Joey Crawford has been suspended for the rest of the season. Couldn't have happened to a nicer ref.

Huh. I remember hearing somewhere, I think, that the NBA usually doesn't discuss fines or suspensions handed down to its referees (something about maintaining people's faith in the integrity of the officiating), but I guess in this case they felt justified in bending that rule a little, and that was probably a good idea.

Hot damn! Today will be a good day to watch Pardon The Interruption! Crawford now has to have a meeting with David Stern after the season to ask for consideration of being reinstated. This is CRAZY! And yet so very hilarious.

I must agree, Kawshen. He was out of control. He should not be reinstated and I can't imagine he will be.

Stern on PTI yesterday suggested that Crawford will not seek reinstatement and that was probably his last game in the NBA.

What a sad way to go out.

I heard Stern on the radio yesterday and he made a couple of points:

1. This was not the first time this ref has had to be reprimanded for the exact same thing.

2. Crawford in no way will admit he was wrong in what he did.

So yeah, wouldn't be suprised to see him gone forever.

Not that it's related to the exact same kind of issue, but this isn't the first time the subject of Crawford's integrity has been questioned-- on July 1, 1998 he pleaded guilty to filing false federal income tax returns, erroneously stating income of $82,500 from 1991 to 1993. (He was one of ten NBA referees so charged.)

He resigned from the NBA effective immediately, and was reinstated by David Stern in 1999-- because of the 1999 NBA players' lockout, he didn't miss a game.

Hence the hilarious joke under the Tim Duncan entry in Bill Simmons' latest column:

I'm with Bill. Good riddance Joey.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3058329 Well its sounds like the owner may grant Kobe's wish. The question may actually be what do the Lakers get in return. Teams that could be interested are Bulls and the Knicks. Well any thoughts?
