from 1wrestling.com:

"WWE is apparently planning to repackage Garrison Cade as a character that will mimic Shawn Michaels. New ring gear is being prepared that is similar to the gear worn by Michaels and the plan is apparently to call him "H.B. Cade". "

Could be interesting, maybe. There was a recent WWE interview with Cade talking about how he was trained by Michaels ...

At least this will hopefully get Cade some type of crowd response.

Uh-huh. It'll be like the nWo Sting-- only he was kind of interesting in the “Oh, my God, has Sting joined the nWo?” angle they were doing back in WCW, 1996.

And, of course, nWo Sting actually had talent, whereas Garrison Cade doesn't.

I think if they're gonna do something with Garrison Cade, they might as well go ahead and go the Godfather route with him. What's the quickest way to get someone over in WWE? Having someone say that it's time, once again, for everybody to come aboard the Ho Train.

In any case... I could dress my fat-ass 45-year-old neighbor in HBK tights and teach him how to imitate HBK. That wouldn't make him nearly as athletic, talented or charismatic as HBK.

And even if the gimmick works, no one would think of Garrison Cade as anything but a highly-successful Shawn Michaels wannabe.

But then, I suppose it's better than the cowboy gimmick and the La Resistance gimmick.

Man, talk about a LAME gimmick, unless they make him an Uber Heel and make it where he talks shit about HBK, knowing he wont come to smackdown to check him on it. Let him talk about how HBK is washed up, and that he is better than he was, and let him just go from there.

But, on the bright side, maybe next time they visit Syracuse.....

Isn't that Michael Shane's gimmick?

As for Garrison Cade having no talent, one moment in particular sticks out for me to defy that notion. It was during a house show I attended here in Dublin (the results are on the board somewhere if you're THAT interested) and a match between Rhyno and Cade. Cade did the ol' fake injury angle routine and nailed Rhyno after selling a knee injury for about 10-15 minutes that even had the staunchest of skeptics such as myself wondering whether or not this was actually legit. Then he nails Rhyno and proceeds to do some jumping jacks to some INCREDIBLE heel heat. And he seemed perfectly comfortable doing so. It was so simple, yet he made it a special moment, a moment I'll always think of when someone criticises Garrison Cade.

Are you perhaps confusing Garrison Cade (who is on RAW) with Mark Jindrak, his former tag-team partner (who is now on Smackdown!)?

It's pretty funny that now both these have been given gimmicks that are simply knock-offs of those of older, better-known wrestlers. At least Jindrak's Luger/Narcissist gimmick is taken from someone who's actually out of the company, and at least he's got Teddy Long to help him get a little over.

Looks like it's Heat for Cade, much as Jindrack's so-called push has him stuck in Velocity. Hey, it could be worse, he could be left-out althogether (e.g. Palumbo, Test).

Man, a few days ago I confused KWANG and the Sultan, and now, I confuse those two. Faceless midcarders really do all run together.

I like it; I really do. Keep Cade doing the gimmick for a while, with little to no reaction from Michaels (he's tied up now with Kane anyways). Then, you can have the big blow-off with Michaels at a PPV later on in the year, once Cade has had time to grow his hair out, perfect the knock-off and generally annoy people with the gimmick.

I look back at guys the copycat gimmick never worked for (Chuck Palumbo as Lex Luger, Shawn Stasiak as Mr. Perfect, Brian Lee as Underfaker, Rick Bogner and Glen Jacobs as Razor and Diesel, Brian James as Double J), and say, eventually they MIGHT get it right. Less is definitely more, and if they can keep up with a subtle parody for a while, who knows where this could go?

At the very least, it gets Cade noticed a little bit more, seeing as no one can remember him right now from week to week.

I love the idea, but Stevie Richards would fit the imposter HBK angle better. I hope this sees the light of day, its piqued my interest. I might be in the minority but I liked Jindrak and Cade.

You know, I don't think that's such a bad idea. Shawn Michaels trained Lance (Garrison) Cade, and I'm sure he'd treat the homage as respectful. However, it seems like the better long-term direction for the character is to have Cade go Single White Female, believing himself to be HBK's friend/defender, before going off the deep end and saying that he's better than the original. Thus, he's gotta start out a little face-ish, defending HBK's honor against Kane. (As the catalyst for the change, all that would need to happen is for HBK to say that he might not be back, which would lead to a backstage cutaway of Cade seeing the footage, and getting emotionally distraught. The announcers could then sell the idea that Cade was trained by Michaels.) When Michaels does eventually return, they could team, as HBK might enjoy seeing himself honored. Then, months later (maybe even after a run in the tag division), Michaels could get Superkicked through a plate glass window.

Making The Saga of Cade a longer term story arc allows for the possibility of the fans seeing more in the character that may get him over long-term, before pulling the rug from under him. Also, it gives HBK the chance to give the rub to a new guy, and help a floundering rookie come up, without the dreaded "repackaging."

It's a bad idea. Cade has a really great elbow drop and credible punches.

Are they gonna release HBK? Cause Cade's in ring work will just make Shawn look that much more pathetic.

On the other hand Cade is really good at working chickenshitish Budro heel stuff. So I could see him pulling this off.

but still. Its just gonna make Shawn look bad. If they want someone to work the low-rent HBK gimmick they should bring back Justin Credible.

Because imitations of Kliq-members have done so well in WWE in the past.

Still, Madiq's idea ain't bad.

Maybe he can tag up with the winner of the YJStinger contest. Hell, have Paul London start dressing like Sting, and call him YJStinger.

I've been trying VERY HARD to forget that, and I almost had erased that from my memory.... thanks.

While this does sound pretty silly, it'll hopefully get Cade on TV, and could be hilarious. At very least, I'll get a laugh or ten out of it...

Exactly, we all groaned when Meltzer reported that Nick Dinsmore would be playing a 'simpleton' character on TV didn't we? Well look how that turned out.

Then, months later (maybe even after a run in the tag division), Michaels could get Superkicked through a plate glass window.

Damnit madiq, took the words straight out of my mouth.

Looking at Cade, I see him more likely to properly copy a gimmick like the Smoking Gunns or the Widowmaker -- a cowboy style.

The best part of him aping HBK is that Cade has a great flying elbow drop, and he could return that move to its proper finisher status. If he can't nail a superkick, he needs to avoid it. Weak superkicks stand out, no matter how strong the rest of your moveset is.

He did the same thing on a house show I went to it was he and Jindrak vs. Storm and Val. I agree with you he pulled it off really well, the jumping jacks just to rub it in everyone's face was a nice touch LoL... Cade for me is remembered in my eyes as probably having the biggest "What the Hell" moment on Raw of the past 12 months, when he and his Team Green partner Jindrak stole the briefcase full of money right out of Orton's hands. I mean from ALL the people in the lockerroom to punk out Randy Orton and steal the briefcase, it was Gerrison Cade and Mark Jinkdrak LoL.

BTW Madiq, I really like your idea, that works so much better then just one day coming out with a whole new gimmick by night... A slow progression like you said would be interesting

Hmm...Kurt of course when he ducks the mist and nails him with the Olympic Slam. The straps come down and the Almighty One grabs Muta and applies the ankle lock. That'd be a hell of a match. Good thinking, Darryl.
