The Atlanta Hawks traded guard Mike Bibby, rookie guard Jordan Crawford, swingman Maurie Evans and a first-round pick in the 2011 draft to the Washington Wizards in exchange for guard Kirk Hinrich and forward Hilton Armstrong.

And I'm a bit surprised that the person who wrote the SI.com article considered Hinrich to be an upgrade over Bibby.

Hinrich was high on the Lakers' wish list, so this is a loss for them.

I remember that both Bibby and Hinrich have seen better days. Hinrich was a very capable #2 on the young post-Jordan Bulls and Bibby came within a Tim Donaghy of the Finals. That was a long time ago and neither guy is what you'd consider a spring chicken.

He is. Big time. Not sure I'm happy with the loss of the draft pick (and we never got a chance to see if Jordan Crawford is gonna be any good) but we are happy.

Any chance we can offload Joe Johnson's contract too??

This gives the Celtics the chance to make a run this year, and if things don't work out well, they go into the 2011-12 season (should there be one) with expiring contracts of Garnett and Allen on the books.
