After leading the Atlanta Hawks to a 37-45 record, their first playoff berth in nine years and helping them stretch the top-seeded Boston Celtics to seven games in the first round, Mike Woodson was retained as the Hawks' head coach with a two-year extension offered to him by new general manager Rick Sund.

I'm no expert on the Hawks, by any means, but it seems like a positive move to me. They're definitely a team on the rise.

"It, uh... it was not supposed to be a fight to the death."
"Trust me, they're better off now."
"Yeah, you're probably right."

Well, unless Phoenix can pull a 2004 Red Sox, they're done and San Antonio will be representing the West in the Finals. It's amazing how the Spurs have the innate ability to expose teams. Hopefully Phoenix can take at least 1.
