| #21 Posted on 3.2.08 1508.09 | David Letterman also once read my letter on the mailbag (CBS version), I was in a music video for a french-canadian band and I appeared several times in some local village's weekly wrasslin' program, doing a bit of everything (reffing, managing, even wrestling. My wrestling career is now at a staggering 0 and 3).

A few years later after I moved to a different job, I became the play-by-play announcer for the Oklahoma based NWA Universal TV show entitled "NWA Intense TV". We were on a local channel here in Tulsa (WB 19) for 10 weeks.

Meningitis was doing the rounds of sunny Ayrshire and parents were packing their kids off to far flung parts of the country to keep em safe.
The local news came round to speak to the kids that had stayed behind and I had to say something about how I thought people were over-reacting and school was important so you shouldn't miss it if you're not sick.
Got the piss ripped out me for weeks afterwards because of it, which I always thought was harsh given that the TV man told me what to say. That defence was futile in the court of playground opinion as it turned out.

About 1972 or so, I was wearing a kids batting helmet, t-shirt and waving a Brewers' pennant while drinking a Coke. WTMJ used me as the background for their baseball scores that night.
When I was in high school, I was being interviewed while working the phone bank for a telethon (probably Jerry Lewis). As my phone rang, the guy next to me tried to pick it up because he was terrified of being interviewed on TV. They told me to pick it up, and talked to him.
In college, I was in the background for a CNN "Play of the Day". Brad Lohaus launched a three pointer as time expired to beat the Badgers. The shot and camera were right in line with where I was sitting, and you can see me get up and start walking down the aisle as I could tell the ball was going to go in. | komarkaze

The understudies got to do one scene performance in front of elementary school kids and the county public school camera, so there's footage of me singing and dancing somewhere I've never seen. When I was 14, I was in Boy Scouts of America and a camera crew came to our troop to film us learning about something. The footage was to be used for scout training purposes and I had a 3 second closeup shot.
Other than that, all my media footage is radio. In 1996-7, I got on the air a few times via winning a variety of concert tickets. Last year, I called into a local morning show when I heard a college dormmate promoting his sold out comedy tour and bantered with him and the DJs briefly.

| #30 Posted on 4.3.08 1247.40 | During my senior year, some friends and I skipped school and headed into St. Louis to goof around. There was a solar eclipse that day so we headed the Science Center to watch it. There was a news crew there that wanted to interview us. Two of my friends didn't go on camera to avoid getting in trouble, but I was on tv and so was the fourth friend there. In hindsight, the people that didn't get interviewed weren't really safe since if their parents saw either me or the other friend they'd have known all four of us were together.
I didn't see the interview (played at 5:00, 6:00, and 10:00) but a ton of people came up to me at school the next day saying they saw me. The whole thing was pretty strange because the reporter asked us how we had liked the eclipse, in the past tense. The thing was, the eclipse hadn't actually happened yet. So I was on tv saying, "Its alright, I guess." | KJames199

| #31 Posted on 5.3.08 0114.21 | Instant Rating: 9.37 | As a kid, I was on community access TV for numerous school plays, up until Grade 8 or so, or whenever school play participation was no longer mandatory. The highlight was a featured role in my kindergarten class' performance of the Wedding of Jack and Jill. I was the Farmer in the Dell (and rang the ol' church bell).
I was interviewed for local news coverage when a local band (Wide Mouth Mason) started making it big - I was at an in-store show they did and a news crew was there. No idea if it made air.
This past winter, the Regina CTV news kept filming local interest items at the mall near my work, and always when I was walking by carrying lunch back to my office. I don't know if I was ever on camera, but I like to think that someone out there is obsessing over the news, going "Look! It's that guy again AND HE'S GOT ANOTHER PITA!"
Oh OH and I almost forgot my appearance as host of STV Kids News ("news from a kid's point of view!"). A local station (the same one that did the Wide Mouth Mason story - clearly, they were hurting for content) would bring in kids to film school news stories and it would air during weekend cartoons. They filmed it in one take and it was awful. Somewhere, a videotape of my performance still exists. Thank God it's a Betamax tape. This would have been in 1988 or so - we were slow to adopt this whole newfangled "VHS" thing.
