Wow. In the HWA, there was to be a main-event six-man tag-team match. D'Lo Brown and The Island Boys vs. Val Venis, Easy Money and Steve Bradley. The man who scored the pinfall would become the HWA Champion.

But before the match, D'Lo Brown approached Charlie Haas in the locker room. Charlie Haas, you'll remember, recently lost his brother Russ.

D'Lo said he wanted to do something to help Charlie, so he offered him his slot in the main event-- and his shot at the HWA Championship.

Charlie accepted, and went on to become the new HWA Champion.

How freaking classy of a move was that by D'Lo, anyway? Holy crap. Good to see something like that in today's cynical world.

First, I must say I don't see HWA and have never seen Charlie Haas wrestle..

So...does Haas deserve the title? Or is this just a nice little thing to look very PC and give him a title to dedicate to his brother?

Second..oh great. D'Lo gets a ttle shot and gives it away. You even put yourself in the doghouse D'Lo!! And I am sure it wasn't up to D'Lo to give it away. I am sure they planned this and stuff..
Nice gesture though, but once again..is Charlie deserving of this title? Is he good enough to hold it for a while? (again, I have never seen him wrestle. Maybe he is Benoit times two and he can carry it but from a bystander p.o.v. this doesnt sound all that right)

Feel free to blast me if I am wrong..just curious.

Imagine this is some funny signature. Then I will imagine you compliment me on it.

Given that the HWA title is just a regional title, I don't see anything wrong with putting the title on him. He's good enough. Besides, if all this happened on camera, it was all a 'work' anyway.

Of course it was a work. And a shitty way to try and get two guys over.

Somebody should kill whoever booked this idea and then make his brother head booker.

I didn't see Bobby Duncam Sr. get to join Team Rap Is Crap when his son OD'd or got stomped by a bull or whatever spicy way that cowboy wrestlers die.

Well, congrats to Charlie Hoss on his HWA championship. Hopefully D-Lo giving up his spot means that he will be available to compete in this year's Royal Rumble.

Yes! Finally, the Real Deal D'Lo Brown will not be seen as a turban-wearing, protective-vest using, stupid-ass idiot and will be finally ONCE AGAIN seen as the best kept secret in the WWF and the world of wrestling today! GO D'LO! WIN THE RUMBLE!

Yeah, I liked the vest too. Corny, yeah, but it was 1998 WWF for Pete's Sake. And I liked the way he punked out Severn with the frog splash at KotR with it.

I dunno. I think he has that pre-Hardcore days Bob Holly thing going on, just waiting to break out at any moment, given the chance.

Or is Bob Holly also overrated? Prolly. But darnit if he isn't cool.

Actually, according to my understanding, D'Lo approached Charlie Haas off-camera and gave him his title shot. Or so I've been lead to believe from reading a recap of Byte This.

When I think of Charlie Haas, I think of a tag-team wrestler. So I couldn't tell you if he's any good as a singles competitor or not. Maybe we'll find out one day.

BTW, in a related note: Charlie Haas is changing his wrestling name to R. C. Haas-- taking the first letter of both his first name and his late brother's first name.

But anyway. I'll admit that when the story broke that Charlie Haas had just won the HWA Title, I was very skeptical. Because I remember that Owen Hart had to die in order for WCW to think of Bret Hart as worthy of their World Title. Maybe it's a cheap move for publicity, or maybe it's the real deal. I don't know. And despite some of the things I've said about other topics, I always prefer to remain optimistic until proven wrong.

I've seen both Charlie and Russ in MCW (Memphis Championship Wrestling) when it was a developmental promotion here, and The Haas brothers, Steve Bradley, Joey Abs, and a few others were awesome and the top wrestlers here. As a tag team, the Haas brothers were exellent. I'm sure that Charlie ( or R.C.) will make a great Heavyweight champ. He's got the skills and the looks.
And if its true, then D'Lo is truly a class act.

Now if only there were more, good, nationally televised feds out there... like HWA, perhaps? No?

The XWF is rumored to be trying to get their own television deal. Although me personally, I'd rather see the WWA, they sound quite interesting.

“Can they beat the WWF?”

“No.”

I don't see any true “second promotions” really challenging the WWF for still a couple of years yet. If this whole nWo thing causes great Superstars to leave, the WWF might very well be creating their own competition. We'll have to see. For now, we'll have to put up with 'em, I'm afraid.

Damn it. Even when WCW sucked, I always knew I could rely on it as an alternative for when the WWF sucked. LOL...

I don't need one that'll beat the WWF.

I don't need one that's as GLOBAL as the WWF.

I just need one that's on every week, INTERESTING, and can build up people properly. And there's PLENTY of feds that do that, that aren't on TV.

Man I'm a little late on this one, but I'll still respond. How can Hardcore Holly be overrated? Last I checked there's only about 15 people that give a damn about him and I know 5 of them.

Anyway, onto D'Lo Brown. This is a guy who definitely needs to come back. If Big Bossman, Godfather, or Goldust can be in the Rumble he should be. Judging from JR's conference call today Godfather may even actually stay in storylines (along with Venis) after the Rumble. If Bossman and Godfather are on WWF Television on a semi-regular basis than D'Lo Brown definitely should be.

Oh and Lance Storm is UNDERrated.

And I think you're fat. So how do you like me now?
