This is an interesting article by the Arabic newspaper 7 Days that I found via PWInsider.com

I pretty much agree with mostly everything in article. I think the angle is tasteless, stereotypical, wrong, and caters to the LCD. But this is nothing new for the WWF/E, since they will always play to stereotypes, the LCD, and if there is a line to cross, they will cross it.

Thanks for a great season, Pick of the Week fans...see you next year at Planet Magic in Denmark, WI!

The weird thing is that the "media expert" {/Dr. Evil's "quotation marks" gesture} seems as concerned about the reputation WWE might be spreading abroad about America to stupid people as he is about the racism of the angle.

Man, I miss having Daivari in ACW-NWA WI. I guarantee you will all mark out if WWE lets him bust out the Magic Carpet Ride.

Best. Frog Splash with a foreign object. EVER.

It's not all bad. Media expert Dr. James Piecowye does say, "The WWE is an example of the American entertainment industry simultaneously at its best and worst.”

So, you know, there's hope. Me, I'm hoping that when a face turn comes for Hassan, there will be some way to dignify this mess.

He'll be very popular with the ladies. I believe they gave him the Arabic headscarf to hide his handsome mug as much as incite anti-Arabic jeers.

I've heard that Daivari is actually a pretty good wrestler. I'm wondering if he'll get a chance to shine, rather that be regulated to just a managerial role.

I don't think the blame lies with Hassan and Daivari. Both are wrestlers who just want to make it in the business, so I can see how they'd jump at the opportunity for whatever angle comes their way. The blame lies squarely with the writers, who are putting them in a dangerous and poorly-thought-out situation where they have no chance to succeed. I listened to the "debate" a few weeks ago, and Hassan/Daivari had no chance. Their material was weak and ignorant so's not to show up the "pro-America" side, which was just the same pointless rhetoric I've heard all my life.

The official website of the WWE plays on Arab-American tensions.

“All Muhammad Hassan wanted was to coexist with his American neighbours and feel a sense of belonging. That wasn't meant to be. So now, Hassan and Khosrow Daivari are taking out their frustration in WWE,” it said.

Which is incredibly skewed. Their original press release said that these two would get a fair shake, but by the second promo (arguably the first) they were attacking the fans with no consideration to their viewpoints. That's not a fair shake, that's an outright intended heel reaction. That's the writer's fault.

While Hassan (Mark Magnus) isn't Arabic, Daivari is, and I support his chance to go out there and speak on something that hits close to home.

Why should Daivari and Hassan be supported if they just viciously attack and beat up whoever disagrees with them?

Because a large portion of the WWE's audience thinks that's a GREAT way to deal with one's problems and disagreements?

Perhaps they're setting up for a face turn in which Hassan splits from Davairi, the former going face when he realizes he's "no better" than the people he's railing against. Then the WWE has a "good" arab and a "bad" arab, representing "both sides" (but nothing in between, I suppose).

Then again, I doubt it.

Ridiculous...it's fiction, same as the "outrage" by the Arab-American community over a storyline on the TV show 24. I wish they would worry about real events, such as when those sharing the same religion are slaughtering innocents and they don't even acknowledge it.

Note to the bosses. I know you don't want to here anymore about this. I'm don't have enough time to send private e-mail messages to everyone in the league. If you want to close this thread, I would totally understand.
