This is my favorite quote of the YEAR, and ought to go on a T-shirt.

Actually, one of the theories I heard (don't know if it was the situation in the majority of cases) is that they celebrated the holidays on the same days as pagan festivals in an attempt to convert... like, see, we've got a festival on the same day as you, for pretty much the same reason. Besides, last I'd heard, a lot of pagan practices nowadays date back only a century or two, even though they're based on older traditions.

last i heard, pagan practices went back a few thousand years since it was, you know, the first religion. sun worship, moon worship, tree worship, plant worship, grain worship, egg worship, remembering the dead (Samhain, which you all call Halloween), animal worship (without them, we wouldn't live...unless you were a vegan, then YOU'RE A FILTHY PLANT EATER
    )...the list goes on...

Yeah, but then again, the point was the holidays mostly coincide with existing recognized holidays, so it's not much of an issue, no?

and my point is that they do coincide because christians usurped them and just becuase they are a bigger and more "PC" religion (don't get me started on the hypocircy on that!) that everyone assumes it's a christian religion first

it's almost like that Veterans day/Rememberance day argument in the wrestling folder last month...

anyhoo, any holiday you can think of in any of the white religions has it's foundation in paganism and they both usually involve the same practices. (decorating trees, painting eggs, having a big end-of-harvest feast...)

and yes, Moegates scored a killer quote. bravo
i need that on a t-shirt. the only quote better than that is that Nick @ night Cosby Catchphrase commerical, you know "Bacon Burger Dog?"

i loved:

"That's a lot of pie!"

that needs to be on a shirt...

DDP: Well, there's this little passage I got memorized, Diamond Dallas 25:17. Sort of fits this occasion:

"The path of the bookerman is beset on all sides by the inequities of the talented, and the tyranny of workrate freaks. Blessed is he, who in the name of tradition and sports entertainment carries the stiffs through the matches of Nitro, for he is truly the workrate's keeper, and the finder of lost quality. And I will lay the smack down upon thee with great vengeance and furious roid rage those who attempt to outwrestle and expose my brothers. And you will know my name as the Bookerman, when I lay my catchphrase upon thee!"

DDP & Kevin: *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!*

Yes. The fact of the matter is that the demonization of Christmas is for political(i.e. politically correct) reasons.
