Aw, c'mon. DTRACE is nifty.

The installer still continues to suck all kinds of ass, though.

I had to install a pre-release x86 version in order to test out their Linux Application Environment. Which wasn't included, of course (although I got to find out that Sun Documentation looks as crappy as everyone else's documentation before it's publicly released). And you have to do a limited install of a "supported" distro (read: Red Hat AS Server) to get the required libraries.

I wanted to ask them why you'd pay for Solaris Support (to get LAE support) if you were already paying for Red Hat AS, but instead we just decided to go with Red Hat for our cluster even though Sun is providing the hardware, software, etc.

Ah crap, you mean that 4 CD download last week was a pre-release?

Dammit.

I can't get this to install on my Via mini-itx system anyway, which is currently the test system in my house. I ended up putting Ubuntu on it because the Solaris install locks up after booting the first disc.

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

Are netbooks particularly easy to modify? I'd always heard laptops are hard to update/modify because everything is packed in so tightly, and I assumed it would be worse for netbooks. I just bought an ASUS N10J and I am loving it so far.
