Did anyone else catch this? It seemed like a lot of fun, as I flipped back and forth between this and Smackdown.

I enjoyed the discussion about Fonzie jumping the shark.

I recall a reunion ten years ago and thought Erin Moran boycotted it since it was a painful time for her - something about having been molested by several cast members multiple times. Hopefully time has helped heal those wounds.

I really must be too-old-now as other than Mr. and Mrs. C, the rest of the cast does not look all that ancient. Especially when compared to many other reunion shows, like the Cosby Show or Mary Tyler Moore versions, or worse yet the Return to Mayberry.

NO CHUCK

WHY BOTHER?

*(I'm assuming there wasn't a surprise appearance by Chuck during the reunion)

"For the first time, the long-lost brother - both actors who played Chuck -- together in one show."

I haven't seen the whole thing - its on videotape (like most of the country, I don't have DVR.)

I hope TVLand will replay it.

I don't know what network it was on last night, as I had a night class and learned about it just now.

It ran on ABC.

"He is the most overrated piece of crap in the league. He bitched and whined after he got his ass beaten in New England last year, so the NFL changed the rules. Then he got his ass beaten in New England again. Every year he's the top MVP candidate. Every year he's supposed to be the best. Every year he's going to carry the Colts to the Super Bowl. And every single year he goes to New England and gets his ass beaten. And his brother's a whiny little bitch." -A friend of mine, on Peyton Manning

I can't believe how well most of them looked. Erin Moran has probably aged the most but the rest look really good. I thought Donnie Most looked ancient at first but then at the end I think it was just his hair color makes him look old.

I thought the two Chucks was pointless, Mr.s C acted excited but I bet the rest didn't give a crap. The one Chuck looked like Big Schwag (sp?) on Monster Garage.

I thought the reunion was really good. It is cool how close they were during those years with the softball games and such. You would never see that today.

I doubt that it will end up on TVLand, as Viacom which owns UPN and CBS own TVLand, explaining why the Dick Van Dyke re-union show ended up on TVLand so quickly.
I didn't realize jumping the shark was only 2 years into an 8 year run. For some reason, I thought it was more along the 4-5 year spot.
Funny how the only Joanie Loves Chachi clip they show is the theme song to the show. Then again, the show really didn't last much longer than the theme. And, is Al dead, as he was the one regular not the appear.
The Mrs. C making out with Fonzie and coming out of his apartment outtakes were funny.
The appearance of double Chuck was nice, but why didn't Marshall at least discuss the rationale of why they got rid of the eldest Cunningham?

As far as anybody knows, Al Molinaro is not dead. He's still listed as living on IMDb, but he is retired. I occasionally see him in the old On-Cor frozen foods commercials, but I think Richard Kind (Mad About You, Spin City) is the new On-Cor spokesman.

I loved the special. I had no idea that Potsie was the singer of that "pump pump pump pump" song on the Aspirin commercial, and the fact that Fonzie jumped the shark and then the show had 160 more episodes is pretty dang funny.

Considering that Viacom also owns CBS, maybe the issue of repeats is due to the production company who made it(?).

I read somewhere that the actor who played Al was too ill to participate. Thinking about those outtakes is a little frightening, but not totally surprising.

Didn't Marshall try to give a humorous explanation once that Chuck was abducted by aliens or something? It could be that he was just didn't fit in the show that well (see also Judy Winslow) and Marshall doesn't want to bother with any more details. I wouldn't think that a reunion show would be the forum to discover some hard scoops anyways.

I think they kinda missed the point of jumping the shark.

The special repeatedly referred to it as a great urban legend finally being laid to rest. An urban legend is like Soupy Sales telling kids to send him the funny pictures in their parents billfolds, or Richie Cunningham having an older brother--stuff nobody is 100% sure really happened or not, but tell stories about anyway. It seemed like they were trying to acknowledge the significance of the episode in GenX hipster culture, and chose the wrong term.

Marshall also improperly defined "jumping the shark," saying it means the show's about to get cancelled and that Happy Days defied the omen by not being anywhere near it's final episode. But that's not the point--when a show jumps the shark, it's not near the end; it's passed its peak. Many people would argue that M*A*S*H and the Simpsons jumped the shark relatively early in their runs. It's not about when the show stops being successful so much as when it stops being as good as it used to be.

I'm not a huge Happy Days fan myself, but having seen the shark-jump for the first time Thursday night, I certainly see why the term has caught on. Everything I know about what Happy Days is as a TV show is completely defied by that episode--not just because Fonzie is performing daredevil stunts, but because the gang is on a beach in the first place. It'd be like if the Andy Griffith Show suddenly did an episode where they all join the circus or something.
