...to the Kellogg-Briand Pact. On this day in 1929 the pact was proclaimed to be in effect. In its documentation, the treaty outlawaed war as an instrument of foreign policy. It was signed by the US and such other perennially peace-loving countries like Japan, Italy, Germany, etc.
As time rolled on and 1931(Japan's invasion of China), 1936(Italy conquering Ehtiopia and German occupation of the valley) and 1938(German annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland) it had become an anarchronism.
I agree with the spirit of it, but I think it should be dealt with internally by a bipartisan body. Bringing in foreigners to monitor our elections, especially with Bush's percieved lack of global support, isn't going to help us any.
