With the recent discissions pertaining to Sony's megabucks foray into the handheld market, I was wondering what devices other wieners turn to, other than the Gameboy, to satisfy their quest for handheld gaming goodness.

Myself – I own an iPAQ 4150 that I have stocked up with a variety of games such as:
· Age of Empires
· NetHACK
· Dope Wars
· Crazy Burger (lemonade stand clone)
· Balderdash clone
· Frogger
· Other ‘cute’ platform ‘timewasters’
· Various solitaire type games

I have also seen a Mame for PocketPC/ARM so I need to get that going too. Once I get ‘Burgertime’ running on handheld, then you’ll get no more sense from me. In all honesty I probably won’t buy another dedicated handheld game machine as the iPAQ gives me what I need, plus it has the bonus of doing what its marketed to do (business assistant) and thus is a legitimate write off making it much more affordable.

Thoughts, discussions?

I have an iPaq too (4150 also, I think), but I'm still enjoying plain old Solitaire and Jawbreaker. I've looked online for software for it, but its all pay-to-download, and I'm rather hard up for cash right now. Are there any sites with free (and legal) software available, or am I stuck with my two game library for the time being?

Try here www.freewareppc.com

The Age of Empires I cite is a demo, but its reasonable.

I usually search for "Pocket PC" or ARM rather than iPaq. It seems to give better results.

I've got a Palm Tungsten E that I've got Dopewars on. It's pretty much the only game I play on it.

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

That has been the rumour since seemingly forever. After following Nintendo's trends I think they're not going to do HD just to do it; it would have to make very good business sense.
