Any fans pick this one up yet? It's definitely different. This time, instead of dealing with a lot of chords, it seems to be all about nailing the really fast, long solos. Psychobilly Freakout just about sent me into carpal tunnel the first time I played it on MEDIUM.

With such bands as Dethlok and Spinal Tap, and songs like Trogdor, I don't know how anyone could not love this game.

Trogdor? As in Trogdor the Burninator?!?!?! If so, I gotta pick this up, even though I don't play the guitar!

Yep, Trogdor by Strong Bad. It's one of the bonus tracks.

I just played through this on Easy last night, and I can't wait until I have some time to play through on the harder levels to get to the really good songs. I prepared myself for this one by setting up a playlist in iTunes of all the songs and listening to it at work all the time to get used to the rhythms of the songs.

It's way harder than the last one. Like the King said, Medium, which was mostly a cakewalk last time (especially for someone who wasted as much time with the game as I did) gets really hard towards the end, and Hard seems to be on par with most of Expert last time. (I haven't dared try Expert yet.) This isn't a complaint, mind you. If it's hard, it'll take longer to master and I'll have reason to play it for a longer amount of time.

If I have a complaint, it's that the quality of the covers has gone down since the last one. In the first game, I was about seven songs or so in before I even realized they weren't the original tracks - and it was only because whoever did the vocals for "Iron Man" didn't quite have his Ozzy voice down, the guitar work for the whole game was spot-on. This one has a few really poor covers - especially Stone Temple Pilots and Rage Against The Machine. Especially Rage Against The Machine.

Still the best $50/$80 you can spend right now, though.

Without spoiling, the last song made my night.

Psychobilly Freakout has to be the most difficult song in the friggin game though. I got a 5 Star on Miserlou and Institutionalized but can only manage a 3 on that (on Medium).

Oh, in Co-op, I dare you to play the bass line in John the Fisherman on Expert.

I am so very glad that the song that's busting my hand right now is a song I like. I'll tell you what it is. It's some kind of Texas psychobilly freakout, that's what it is.

Burned through Easy to unlock the extra guitars. Beat Medium last night and man this game is just too cool. I My hand hurts even thinking about hard, so I think I'm going to go back and try to five-star some of the medium songs first.

on the shelves * Devil May Cry 4 (The W at Amazon) (gamestats.com) (and there's a collectors version as well) - action slasher. Reviews say it's a return to form of the original game (avoiding the problem of the two previous sequels.)
